honestly, i've never ever considered calling my ILs anything but their first names. i think no matter how close i might be with them (i'm not really close at all) i doubt i'd be able to call anyone 'mom and dad'...other than my parents!

I cant either my mom warned me that if i didnt start saying it the day after the wedding i would never be able to and i cant
it stinks though bc DH's SIL calls them mom and dad all day long.
i just know if i randomly start it will be wierd!

I call my ILs momma and dad and my parents are maaaaa and dadda.
Its still funny to call my FIL dad but Im used to calling my MIL momma
I dont think you have to call them mom and dad so dont get upset, its one of those things-either you can or you cant

I don't call my in laws mom and dad. I call them by their names. Our BIL calls them mom and dad, but me and their other new child in law havn't done that yet. I dunno if I'd be comfortable.

Same here. i have one Mami and one Daddy. I always call my mil by her first name but she will lave messages saying 'Hi kids its mommy.' I dont mind. we understand one another. My mom does the same thing to DH but he still calls her by name. If he wants to tease my parents he calls my mom ''moms' and my dad 'pop pop' which pisses my dad off lol. He does it to tease.
I say if you're not comfortable just keep clalling her by name.

I can never call anyone else Mom and Dad except my own parents. I honestly don't call my DH's parents anything. I know his mom has a problem with that, but it's just weird to me. When it was my birthday, they got me a Happy Birthday Daughter card, I would have preferred a Daughter-in-law card, but didn't make a big deal over it. It's a weird situation, so I don't ever acknowledge it.
Do what you feel comfortable with .

i have the same problem too. i CANNOT for the life of me call my MIL mom. it's just TOO weird!!! maybe one day i will but it's just not something i feel comfortable with! i only have one mom and thats good enough for me

I want to call them mom and dad, but i agree its to weird. My parents called their inlaws mom and dad, and his parents call their inlaws mom and dad
So why cant i do it. I called the house last nite and DH's father answered and i said his first name when i said hello. I thought it would be easier but its not. It just feels so weird.

I can't do it either .. DH will joke and call my mom, mom, but doesn't do that with my dad. I can't call MIL mom either, just too weird. But I figure once we have the baby, I'll just be able to say grandma!!

I don't call her mom either. She wants me to but I am just not comfortable. If we give her a gift or a card, I will write mom but that is because DH's name is on it too.

but see in polish culture its rude to call someone by their first name so its like Mrs but i cant call her mrs because technically she's family now ahhh sooo annoying!

I can call DH's mom mom and DH's dad is Bob. I can't do it for him. I love my mother but I feel like I have to call his mom mom. She has tried hard to make me feel like her daughter (even if I still don't.)
My SIL calls my parents mama dukes and papa dukes. They hated it at first..but love it now. LOL..she's crazy!

I haven't really called my MIL mom but when DH & I send her a card I will write mom in the card. My FIL is another story, for some reason I can't bring myself to call him by his first name so I will call him either father or poppa d.
