I truly can't choose a table...

Okay, I FINALLY chose my dining room furniture, but the set I love comes with 2 tables, and 1 is significantly more expensive than the other. Of course I can't choose between them and it's making me miserable.
Please tell me which one you like better...

This one...

Or this one. You can't really see the table, but it's really the pedestal I'm concerned with anyway.

Re: I truly can't choose a table...

if you like them both, I'd go with the less expensive one. Which chairs are you getting?

I can see the difficulty - I like aspects of each. Gotta look again to form an opinion...

Re: I truly can't choose a table...

ok, I decided.

While I'm intrigued by the pedestal design of #2, I think I'd tire of it. Whereas #1 is a classic look that won't get old.

Re: I truly can't choose a table...

I am 99% going to get the fabric backed chairs. They are the same price, so there's not as much pressure there.

As for the tables, I like the more expensive one better (of course), but I don't know if the tiny thing I dislike about the less expensive one is reason enough not to get it.

I HATE decisions.

Lisa, you read my mind. That's EXACTLY my concern with the pedestal.

Re: I truly can't choose a table...

I like the pedestal table a teeny bit better.

You can usually sit more people at them since there are no legs to get in the way and the leg clearance is usually higher (a concern b/c DH & BIL are both pretty tall)

But both of them are really nice.

Re: I truly can't choose a table...

I like the first one better, but I have to say I do love the pedastal table. I have one, and it is great, because there is no knee banging.

Re: I truly can't choose a table...

looks like the pedestal extends far enough out that legs might bump into it - is that true, Jenn? The chair looks right against it.

Re: I truly can't choose a table...

I had a pedestal table once and it got annoying...its not as sturdy, always wobbling if someone pushes on the table to get up and such. I love the chairs in two though. My pick is table 1 with chairs 2.

Re: I truly can't choose a table...

I have to say the pedestal one...I am partial to those...tha is what we have. I find you can get more people around a pedestal table that the traditional one with 4 legs!!

Either one you choose will be beautiful!!!!

Re: I truly can't choose a table...

Patrick and I sat at the pedestal table, and neither of us bumped the pedestal. Keep in mind that we are not giants though, so knee bumping is a consideration.

It's actually a double pedestal, so it will most likely be a bit sturdier than a single.

I am leaning toward table #1 and chairs #2 as well, but it's going to cost a lot more!!!

Debbie - I'm cursed with that gift as well

JennRenee - what was your concern with #1?

Re: I truly can't choose a table...

I'd go with #1 - besides, if the pedestal gets wobbly as they tend to do you'd have to repair it and there go the savings by choosing that one.

Go with your heart though, as long as the price difference is not ridiculous or putting you into a huge debt. In the end, you won't regret choosing a table you love and you're going to have it a long time.

Re: I truly can't choose a table...

Oooh, I guess I have expensive taste. I was going to vote for #1. We got a similar table in a rectangular shape. I love the Queen Anne style legs on it.....

Re: I truly can't choose a table...

Is this for your dining room?

If so I would go without the pedestal..

If for the kitchen...I would have no problem with the pedestal...

don't ask me my reasoning for this...I have no idea why

Re: I truly can't choose a table...

Thanks Erica. I make some of my biggest decisions based on 'I don't know why ~ Just because' so I do understand your response.

And yes, it is for my dining room.
