If I had to do it over again, I would not have spent money on....

????????

Was there anything after you bought it that you were like, uggh that's a waste, no one really noticed, etc. Whether it was the 4 tiara's you bought before finally deciding to keep it, chair covers, spending extra $$ on a cake, jewlery, reducing the guestlist, table cameras etc please list it.

This might be able to help others figure out where to cut back if our budget is kind of tight

So, what did you find you spend money, or even tremendous time on that in reflection maybe wasn't really worth it??

I paid for my sister's dress and hair. And my mom's hair. If I had known that they would have been over 2 hours late for their hair and make-up appointments I would have never paid for them.

I had a schedule in place and they ruined everything.

I may have to edit this later, because my sister spys on this board and tells my mom what I write. I actually HATE her. Haven't seen her since my wedding and I don't plan on ever seeing or talking to her again. And if I do, it will be to soon.

I don't really regret spending money on anything. I definitely could have found less expensive invitations, but they were the only ones I liked. I'm sure I could have found cheaper shoes (especially since I only wore them during the ceremony) but they were cute and comfortable. I probably could have done my makeup myself, but I'm glad I allowed myself to be pampered a little that day.

ETS: I don't think that something is necessarily a waste just because no one noticed it. If it's something special to you, or makes you feel good for whatever reason, than it's not a waste!

I actually cut some corners and wouldn't have cut out anything we had...We didn't have limos because the ceremony was at our reception place, and I still think they would have been a waste... We paid extra for the chocolate fountain, but it was such a hit I would definitely have done that again. We did table cameras, and I can't say we got many great pictures, but people had fun trying, and that was only $250 total or so including developing...I probably could have skipped the hair trial because my stylist was great and able to duplicate any photo exactly, but the trial made me feel better about it. I definitely would still have had a band, because I loved our band and got a ton of compliments. I might have done without a tiara, not because of cost but because in the trial I did like the style without a tiara...

THere are a few threads just like this one ... but I think the only thing I really regret spending money on is the wrap I had made to match my dress. It was expensive b/c of the silk and I never used it.

Well Lombardi's wouldn't let me have a chocolate fountain so I worked with them and got a fondue station and it was pretty much a waste!
It was put out 30 minutes before my reception was over, guests didn't know it was out there and people were so full from everything else they didn't want it.
Other than that everything was money well spent.

I would have gone with the simple c-pieces that were part of the package, I would have bought one pair of shoes (my NEW SNEAKERS!) and not dress shoes...it messed up the length and I ended up ripping the bustle loops.

I STILL would have splurged and used Imagine Studios

really??? why??

I am just wondering.

I am so looking forward to my video. I feel I missed parts of my wedding and can't wait to see. For example, the BP being introduced.

Everything was worth it to me ...EXCEPT-
Iput a 500 deposit on a dress I ended up hating on me and bought a 2nd one.

I would probably have looked longer and more carefully for my wedding dress.

I don't regret anything, but I would have ordered less programs. What a waste, I have so many left over.

I would not have spent money on:

An extra pair of 'comfy' shoes that I never changed into

A veil that I had custom made BEFORE my gown came in... I should've waited because then I ended up having to get a different veil because the color did not match.

Other than that I made more cuts that I don't regret rather than spending and regretting it:

I cut out the Viennesse Hour and Seafood bar -- totally don't regret it.

I didn't spend a ton of $$$ on favors

Spending too much time and money on favors - a lot of people left them behind.

Which is ok, because they were wine and I had no problem drinking them.

expensive gifts for the Bridesmaids- they didn't appreciate any of it.

the entire cost of their hair- I would have split it with them, so I 'insisted' that they wear their hair up. I shouldn't have paid the full cost. Again, they didn't appreciate any of it.

oh, the the $400 deposit that I gave to a horrible florist, who I ended up cancelling. The hall gave me the $400 back, but it was still money that I would have MUCH rather either ripped up or burned than given to that slimeball.

I agree with Jimmysbride. I actually was so cautious from the beginning, in the end I was GLAD I made those cuts beforehand rather than spent money on stuff that quite simply, I did not miss

I also didn't spend much on favors at all, yet the few little things I gave away seemed to go over very well

I didn't have a Vienesse hour , though I *thought* I wanted one - and in the end I was happy we didn't splurge

I also wouldn't have bothered getting flip flops for after the ceremony, because I wound up wearing my shoes all night. But they were really cheap so I didn't splurge in the 1st place

The only thing I can think of that I probably should have skipped in retrospect was adding on a station to my cocktail hour. We added a Mediterrean station because we thought our families would appreciate the Greek and Italian items. While it was lovely, in the end it was WAY too much food and everyone was stuffed by dinner time

But overall, I was very satisfed with my decisions

The seating card holders. I knew they were waste when my mom did them but she wanted to do them. Most people left them on the tables and my maitre d' was like do you want these. Since there had to be over a 100 of them i said no. THey were even useless to another bride because it was part of my theme. Oh well.

I brought comfy ballerina shoes for my reception...what a great idea. Especially for an irish dancing wedding! I would of skipped on my shoes if i could as well.

I did buy a tiara on ebay that i never used as well...but that was only like $20.

We cut out a lot of excess so that is probably why i don't regret too much. We had candles instead of CP, DJ instead of a band, i refused to even try on a dress over $2000, we took the lesser picture package and i actually did not pay an extra penny when we went to do the albums.

The only thing i think i went a little overboard was on my custome jewelry...cost like $200....however, i got so many compliments on it and my necklace really made my dress...one person even asked if it was over $10,000
