I guess we were lucky, because we received an envelope from everyone. Although, some $$ were dramatically less $$ than others.

umm lets define stiffed... i expected certain people to come and not give a gift BUT what aggrivated me was the people who came and gave me a check that bounced like a basketball! what the heck would i write in a thank u card like that?? 'thanks for bouncing ur chack and getting me a $20 bounced check fee form the bank?'
unfortunatley i had a few of those

Thats what we did too because they do have a year. HOWEVER i didnt send one to members of my fathers family who stiffed me because I KNOW they will never give me anything (never have in the past) and one had the gall to claim a waitermust have stolen his card
But for people who we knew wanted to come and couldnt afford gifts for one reason or another, we sent them thank yous, thanking them for sharing our day.

unfortunatley i had a few of those
We just got a returned check this afternoon!! $15 service charge on top of it!! and I didn't even notice that the person dated the check 10 days after our wedding..even though we only just cashed them last week.
THANK YOU very much for the 'gift'!!

I'm not sending them a TY, especially if they didn't give us a card. TY for what? TY for gracing me with your presence? TY for allowing me to spend $$$ so you and your guest or you and your kids could come and eat? I don't think so. I don't care if it's rude (my mother would die if she saw me typing this right now) but I think it way ruder to not even give someone a card on their wedding day!

That is tooooooo funny!!! I know it sounds wrong, but DH and I sent plain TY cards (no pic) to those who made an appearance w/ no gift. We wrote something similar like .... thank you for sharing in our special day.....or thank you for coming...... LOL!

NOPE..there were two people who didnt give us a gift or card even..they dont deserve the time it takes me to write it. I think a card at least would have been a little less obnoxious

They might still give one - they do have 1 yr. However - I sent everyone including the ones that didn't give a gift. I thanked them for sharing our day with us. I think a subtle note like this sometimes says more than you know. I even sent it to the ones that did not attend our wedding that either said they could and not made it or backout and or replied NO.
Ya know what... I got gifts later in the mail.
Try it - but don't be disappointed. Store that about that individual or couple in your head for future - think positive and try to be happy they spent that time with you on your day. I am pretty sure that is was it is supposed to be about.lol...

I think I did send a thank you, and said something like this:
Dear >>>> Thank you for being such an important part of our special day. Love, Bruno and Hildegard
this is a nice hint that they should send your gift.
Dont forget, guests have up to a year to send,,,,so just b/c you didn't get it yet doesn't mean its not coming

We still sent them a TY card, and just wrote something like 'Thank you for sharing our special day.' The thing that kind of shocked us is we had just given this person an expensive gift for a different occasion a few days before our wedding!
