...I howl with laughter when I see these brides to be post about how their wedding will be 'RUINED' if a newborn (less than 3 month old) baby comes. They all say the SAME THING
'the loud music is bad for them'
Honestly, do they think their MOTHER didn't think of that? I just get a kick out of it. If you don't want babies, be a woman & say 'no.' Don't blame the 'loud band.' And will a crying baby REALLY RUIN your wedding? REALLY - RUIN your whole day????
I can't wait till these girl have newborns & get invited to a wedding.

Re: I'm am sorry but....
I personally did not have an issue with having children, no matter the age, at our wedding. DH was not on the same page.
One of the families I sit for wanted to bring their son. I've been with him since he was 1 1/2. He's never been to a reception, although he was in his aunts wedding, and she was hoping to see how he would do. He has aspergers. She was hoping this could be a trial run since he was invited to many bar mitzvah in the upcoming months. DH and I talked it over and told them no problem. He was FANTASTIC! When we walked in the cocktail room he jumped out of his seat and screamed 'There's Katherine. I see her!' It was so special to me and to him as well.
Brides to be often get caught up on all the OH NO'S and WHAT IF'S and forget that THINGS WILL GO WRONG.

I actually posted to the post which you are speaking about. I see your point and I see the other girls point. Here is my opinion. I honestly belive that a 1-2mth old baby shouldnt be at a wedding..not because the music will damage their ears or anything like that... My main concern would be the baby crying during the reception..also, in the 08ers post she states that the baby's mother is one of the BM's which to me is more of a reason not to bring the baby. A BM's has a lot of responsibility..before, during and sometimes after the wedding..by bringing the baby along it will make it difficult for her to deal with her BM's duties...yknow? I dont want to start any drama...but it all boils down to whether the bride to be is for or against it. We are all going to have different opinions on this.

Duties though? Honestly? What were your BMs 'duties'? Then didn't have to build the next NASA rocket ship.

I think the wedding will suck if your guests are not happy. If the guests don't get what they want they will make up their mind to have an awful time.
The bride wears a huge white dress and has the attention on her all night. Anyone who thinks a 20 pound child is going to steal their thunder has issues. God help them if the baby wears red that kid will get all of the attention.

They have to help the bride pee. That dress is heavy. How can they help if that kid of theirs is always with them.

Very true..
Well every bride has different duties for their BM's..My BMs had quite a lot of duties. They helped with decorations, they drove around a lot getting the last of things put together. See..everyones wedding is different...my wedding was pretty much all DIY..so I needed ALOT HELP FROM MY BMS! ESP THE DAY OF THE WEDDING! So how can they do this with a 2mth baby on their hands. Besides..they all wanted to have fun so how can you get up and drink and dance when you have an infant to watch over. In fact, my cousin was thrilled that babies werent invitied..she actually preferred it that way..if she had brought her kids along there was no way she could of enjoyed herself! Like I said, I dont want to start drama...I am just stating my side of this situation.

I said they had to help the bride pee being sarcastic. The only 'duty' my bridesmaids had was too have a really good time and look happy in all the pictures oh and show up on time for the mass. I think if someone just had a baby people would take that into consideration. I think their child is a bit more important than 5 hours in a catering hall. Asking anyone with or without a child to run all over for you and be your personal assistant is a bit much.

Ok, then I think there should of been a sarcastic icon because I just didnt get that. If thats how your wedding was..thats perfectly fine. My BM's were more than happy to help me with everything that I needed help with. Each bride is different and each brided requires different things on the day of her wedding. I honestly dont care....the girl that asked the question was expecting opinions...and that was what they did. This shouldnt have turned into a big drama fest. She asked for opinions..and of course everyone has different opinions. Just give ur opinion and thats it!

Re: I'm am sorry but....
Also, I dont believe that having a baby will ruin your day...because something is bound to get screwed up anyway. So whether its a baby crying or your cake tipping over...its going to happen. But if something can be prevented then prevent it. I would just ask the BM if it were possible to find a baby sitter for that day...if she said no I would reconsider having the baby come. I actually said no kids at my wedding and actually I allowed one to come because the mom and dad were coming from North Carolina and I thought it would be unfair to leave her kid behind when she was so far away from her. There are exceptions..and I am open to exceptions....but if things can be prevented then I say prevent them.

Re: I'm am sorry but....
ITA! i personally think its just silly. and sillier to make an excuse. i had kids and babies and to be honest, it made my day that much better!!!!!! my sisters have children and i wouldnt ask them or any of my family to leave their young ones behind or have them have to decline attending bc they didnt want to leave their kids. i think its the parents decision to make as to whether or not they want to bring their kids or find someone to watch them. In the situation of the mother being a BM, totally HER choice to make as to whether she can handle both responsibilities. jmo
some of my fav pics are ones capturing the lil guys!

You are absolutely right...no excuses..if you dont want kids then just say you just dont want them. I agree that the whole music or germs thing are excuses... My point is that no one should be upset if the bride wants or doesnt want kids at her wedding...its up to her..its her wedding.

Oh -I made NO excuses!! Only children from the bridal party were there and we actually had to make calls and tell people (who responded that they were bringing their kids even though they weren't invited) that it was a NO children wedding! A friend of ours even declined because of that BUT for me I just didn't want it. The same couple that declined our wedding, brought their child to my best friends wedding and the kid threw up in the cocktail hour! YUCK!!

yeah i agree caroline---the whole 'oh the baby's ears' thing is silly--just say 'i don't want a baby there that might cry and pisss me off'
u know whats funny? that people don't realize that babies that young -- don't mind the noise a 1 month or so. in actuality---silence for babies that young is what keeps them AWAKE. which is why they say its best to turn on a vacuum when you are trying to put a newborn to sleep----since the womb is so loud for them when they are growing!!

Re: I'm am sorry but....
We had a lot of children at our wedding ... but we did have a cut-off of no one under 2 years old (which excluded 1 cousin, 1 2nd cousin and 2 BMs kids).
We felt that we had to draw the line somewhere, and considering that our ceremony didn't even begin until 8pm, and the reception didn't end until 1:30 am, that it was a logical cut-off. There was some static from some family members about this, but we stuck to our decision because that was how we wanted things.
The biggest reason had to do with crying babies during the ceremony ... and you'll probably tell me that the parents would bring the kid outside of the ceremony room if they started crying. Well ... this would definitely not be the case with one of them!!!
We also didn't want a game of 'pass the baby' at the reception ... where the parents would want to be able to enjoy themselves so they would 'let' the other people they were sitting with 'enjoy' spending time with the kids.
