I'm in tears over here

Original post by dazies1011

My son has to go through a very painful procedure at the end of next month on his teeth. He has a baby tooth that needs to get pulled and they need to put a bracet/chain on the adult tooth and pull it down little by little. This can take up to a year, normally 3 months but, his regular dentist never told me about this

When they first go in it might not work and 6 weeks later they will have to try again. If the chain breaks at anytime they go back in over and over again. Mind you they have to peel back the roof of his mouth

They want a certain catscan done on him....$300, insurance doenst cover it. The whole thing with dental insurance will cost $800 and if they have to go in over and over again it $300 each time!!!

So mind you I have to think of what my son will be going through on top off ALL the money they want from me and it all has to be paid up front, no payment plans.
He tells me they take CC..... ya but, are you going to pay for it??? No!!!
DH is out of work and I am the only one that is supporting the 3 of us and I dont make much, you'd all laugh at what I make that's how bad it is. I don't even get child support from his dead beat sperm donor!!!
I have been using the wedding money to pay DH's bills and now pretty much all of my tax money will be for my son's procedure and we have nothing to fall back on incase DH doesn't find something soon.

Im sorry to vent but, need to get it allout.

If it makes u feel any better, I work for an orthodontist and I see this all the time. It's called an exposure. Of all the kids that I have seen have this done, there have been no complications. I feel like maybe they have to tell you of all possibilities to cover themselves, but I have never seen any problems. Everyone is different in how long it takes for their own teeth to grow in. Don't stress, it really isn't as bad as they make it seem. When you go to see your ortho every 2 or 3 weeks to have the tooth pulled each time, just give him some aspirin a half hour before his appt so it takes the edge off. Hope this helps at all, if you have any questions feel free to FM me.

As for the money situation, I'm sorry to hear about that. That really really ***** that they don't have a payment plan!! You should switch to my office we def do payment plans!! Anyway, evcerything will work out fine. I know it's easier said than done, but what doesn't kill ya, makes you stronger!! Cheer up!!

Thanks hun I will FM you pretty soon

I am so sorry you are going through this. It sounds awful for your son & then on top of that you have to worry about the money? No fun. I'll pray that it works the first time so that they don't have to keep going in over and over again, causing pain for your son. If you do use a credit card, try to open up a no interest credit card and pay off as much as you can monthly. I know it *****, but at least you have that option if you don't have the money up front. I can't believe they don't have a payment plan! I hate the dentist...they really are SO expensive...and PAINFUL!!!!

Thanks hun Im gonna just used good old AMEX and get some points
