Important Thank You Question
I was just curious... how many of you wrote out all the thank you cards yourself and how many had DH help?? I told my husband that we had to both write out the thank yous because I hate writing thank you cards, I already did all of them for the engagement party and my shower and I wanted some help with the wedding cards. He thought this was ludicrous - as did his mother and his whole family. They act like I'm some crazy feminist or something making my husband share the 'thank you card' responsibility! Am I crazy?? I mean, I know my hand writing is better but who cares. A present was given to both of us so it's a chore we should share!
What are your thoughts???

Re: Important Thank You Question
I wrote out all our thank yous but my husband did put our return address on them and stamp them (I made him do this for our invites as well
). But it is up to you as to who writes them, my brother and his wife each signed their name to their TY, again their choice. I've seen couples do them together, the wife do them all, and them be separated by whose guests...do what is right for you!

Re: Important Thank You Question
Hi Tracy!!
I wrote out every. single. one. Steve's handwriting sukks!!! Not to mention, if I waited for him to do it, our thank yous would still not be sent (almost 2 years later!
)I do ALLLLLL of our thank yous, birthday cards, anniversary cards...etc., etc. It's just one of my roles as 'the dutiful wife'!!! HAHAHA!!
Hope you're well!!

Re: Important Thank You Question
I think the husband should absolutely do half. I'm shocked that anyone thinks otherwise -- this wasn't even a discussion for us, he just did his fair share. He did guests of his family and I did guests of my family. Friends we split by whoever was closer to the individual. So no, I think that they are crazy for thinking you should have to do it all.

Re: Important Thank You Question
I wrote all the thank you's. If I told him to write some, our guest would still be waiting.

Re: Important Thank You Question
I wrote them all. I'm better at writing that sort of thing and he's a procrastinator too, so that was my contribution to the team. I did ask him to add a personal note to a few where I thought the person deserved a comment or acknowledgement from him directly.Believe it or not, I actually enjoyed it a bit. It was a creative challenge to find different ways to express the same sentiment. I set a goal of 10 per day and it was done in what seemed like no time at all.

Re: Important Thank You Question
I wrote all of them out myself but I don't think it is unreasonable to ask your husband for help.

Re: Important Thank You Question
I wrote them all. He wouldn't even help me address them or put stamps on them. I just don't get men!

Re: Important Thank You Question
We split the task. He wrote thank you's for his invitees and I wrote for mine.

Re: Important Thank You Question
I did them all. I toyed with the idea of asking him to write out the ones for his friends and family, but I knew that the notes would be more sincere and heartfelt if I wrote them.My husband is a wonderful man, but written expression is not one of his many talents.

Re: Important Thank You Question
I did them all. He really didn't want to help and instead of nagging him endlessly I just gave him the task of stamping and mailing them. You have to choose your battles lol.

Re: Important Thank You Question
No way I was writing them all! And Al didn't expect me to.He even helped write thank yous for my shower - they were gifts for him too!
I would say of the wedding thank yous, Al wrote about a third of them.

Re: Important Thank You Question
My husband asked me if I needed help, but I was afaid of saying yes - I didn't know what they would look like, so I did them on my own

Re: Important Thank You Question
I wrote most of ours out...but I had off 6 weeks after the wedding...so I had the time...while he was working...and I wanted them out within a month or 2I did make him write out the ones to his mom and second mom...and it took him about 6 months to write to the Spanish relatives (he had to since I don't know Spanish)
he also complained about writing the thank you cards for his GM!!! I had to explain to him how stupid it would be if I wrote them!!
