In need of a pick-me-up

I am not sure if it's 'post holiday' blues (even though it isn't New Year's yet) but I am feeling a little down and was hoping that you girls would help. OK, here it is: I have been with DH for over 8 years. He is older than me (by 15 years). I guess I thought about that as the years went on, but he is a very young 50.We love to do all the same things and, honestly, he has more energy than me! Lately though, I have been hearing people at work talk about other couples with big age differences in a negative way. For example, 'I can't believe THEY are having a baby, it's just SO weird'...this is a couple at work with a ten year age difference. I have had people talk to me about it over the years (like some family members) but my friends have always been super supportive. Now, it leaves me wondering what people really think. Not that any of this changes the love I have for DH, but it makes me feel bad inside. My step mom has said negative things, but her daugter is 30 and her boyfriend is 51 and they have been together for the same amount of time as me and DH! Thank you all for reading this...why am I feeling so bad the day before New Year's???

Re: In need of a pick-me-up

No matter what, people are always going to find something negative to say. Don't let it bother you, like you said you are happy and secure in your relationship.

at first they didnt want kids, but then my sister got pg and lost the baby and after that they realized that they did want one... and they had the cutest kid ever... and they are insanely happy...

Re: In need of a pick-me-up

DH is also turning (a very young!) 50 this year and there is a 13yr age difference between us...... So I can definately understand where you are coming from...people say things..................

Please don't let people's careless thoughts bring you down. You and your DH love each other and that is all that matters - their words are just a blip in the grand scheme of 'stupid things said'... and just for get about it!!

Don't let it get to you. People just always feel the need to complain about something. Their opinions don't matter.

Yup! Don't let it get to you... even if someone did think it was weird or they wouldn't date someone that much older/younger than they are that is their choice, they should keep it to themselves.

Re: In need of a pick-me-up

My parents are 14 years apart. They have been married for 35 years. My dad was 42 when they had my sister, 44 when they had me. You would never know my dad is as old as he is, as he appears much younger. People are a-holes, we all know that. Don't let them bother you
