i seriously just feel terrible for the girl. to have to deal with this stuff like 9 days before your wedding, being railroaded by the future ILs and have to make the decision....its tough. even her own attorney, after re-working the pre-nup has asked her NOT to sign it, but she feels like she has 'no choice'.

the entire pre-nup is set up for him to get out easy...she'll have to live the rest of her married life wondering if he's gonna pull it out and say 'sorry, i'm done with you' its just not right!

I was just thinking this and thank god I am not the only one who thinks it. I wouldn't want to throw my laundry out in the open especially a prenup and situation like that. I keep stuff like that private.

i had read the original 'terms' to my DH and he was shocked that anyone with a brain would consider signing it.

especially since it doesn't matter WHO ends the marriage ...

Wow NO you are not alone at all, I think its pretty kooky. Also kooky -- they give her this doc 9 days before her wedding and it never occurred to her she should talk to her parents about it?? Really???
Then when she does bring dad into it, his only replies are 'ooooh now THAT sounds reasonable!!'

I'm sorry but MY Dad would've popped the thing in the shredder, told FH to F* off, and disowned ME if I went through with the wedding.

I loved my Dad and I wish everyone could've had a pops like him. He was a little on the abrasive side but god*knows he was a straight shooter!!!

Good luck to this girl, but I don't really think she's a victim- she's a willing participant, and it sounds like she'd just rather play house than take care of her own future (i.e. go to school, get a real job/career, etc). I'd be living in fear every day that DH is getting ready to trade me in...

some people dont have close friends who they can turn to and sometimes these forums can be helpful - i know i have shared personal information on here just with the hope that someone could help me

and honestly, in my situation ( anxiety and panic attacks ) i found more help HERE than IRL

I didn't read the whole thread, just what she posted in the original post and her update.

While I completely understand that she doesn't want to take the house or part of the company etc because he's the one that invested all the time and money into it etc. and that he wants to protect his inheritance.... the point is that once you're married, you're sharing everything. She's going to be LIVING in that house. She WORKS at his job. If he cheats on her (God forbid) or just decides one day he doesn't want to be married anymore, he KNOWS he'll have it easy and she'll be 100% completely sh*t out of luck with NO where to live OR work.

I feel very badly for her - I guess she really feels like she has no choice. I know she's pretty young, and I have no idea if that's part of why she feels she has no choice - maybe she doesn't realize that there's ALWAYS a choice. I think her DH's side knows that with just days til the wedding, if they stick to their guns, she can either sign or not get married... so she'll sign.

I pray that everything works out for her. And I pray that she'll NEVER need to use that prenup.

See, this is why I think she's 50% percent responsible for the outcome.
Frankly, she should've called his bluff, and said, its 9 days before my wedding. You dilly-dallied over this for months; if you want to get married to MEEEEEE, shred this and we'll create a POST NUP - TOGETHER - after we get back the h'moon. And if said hell no, she should've walked out. Seriously.

She made a lifestyle choice, and I don't begrudge ANYONE the finer things, but it's pretty foolhardy to think there's no price involved. Her integrity just got bought for $1500/month.

And if you look at the real terms of that 'deal' he's actually DISINCENTED to stay in the marriage after 5years, IMHO.

But I know all about leading horses to water, yaddayaddayadda...

Honestly, my heart is breaking for her....

This is totally unfair and not right to do this 9 days before the wedding...

I can totally understand where you are coming from, the support and help the ladies on this site give can be alot more useful and valuable than IRL, however....i just dont see how making videos on youtube is going to save her marriage or make her feel better in any way. A wise woman would seek guidance from professionals and get appopiate legal help and representation, she just seems like shes enjoying the process of making these videos and the 'fame' that comes along with it.

hmmmmmmmm....

very shady that this document just 'appeared'. I don't buy this 'on he thought his parents were taking care of it' bullsh!t.

DH's best man came from a very wealthy family. His parents called the bride 1 week before, behind his back, and told her to sign a pre-nup or the wedding was off. She said 'ok then, I guess the wedding is off. You call your side & I'll call mine.'

The pre-nup suddenly went away.

I totally agree, Sometimes people who aren't close to the situation can give you a better opinion too.

Wait, Milana, we're talking about StinkysMom on LIF (link is on the original post above). The pic of the video lady is something else.
