Is anyone thinking of selling their wedding gown?

I'm starting to seriously consider this... if I can even get 1/3 of what I paid for it, I think it's worth it. I don't think I'm that sentimentally attached to it for some strange reason. Am I weird for not wanting to keep it?

My question though is... if I plan to sell it in the near future, should I do the whole preservation thing or just have it cleaned? Did you have yours preserved if you kept it?

Re: Is anyone thinking of selling their wedding gown?

I thought about it but worried I might regret doing it. Why I don't know?
Its now preserved so I don't know what I will do with it.

Re: Is anyone thinking of selling their wedding gown?

Thought about it but that is about as far as I will probably get. I also had it preserved. The box is huge, it takes up so much space. I know I would also regret it if I got rid of it.

Re: Is anyone thinking of selling their wedding gown?

I just threw out my first gown a few months ago - I had to set up a home office lickity-split. I would sell it - it will never be in style again, your daughter will not want to wear it...

I don't think that's fair to say. Lots of people get married in their mother's dress and I've heard of people making communion dresses or baby's blankets out of their wedding gown.

Really? And you just got married. Did she have a short engagmet, or was the plan to share the whole time?

My friend said she got more than she paid for hers. Mine wans't very expensive, so it is not really worth sellign, but I don't know if it is worth saving.

Re: Is anyone thinking of selling their wedding gown?

I wouldn't sell mine for sentimental reasons. And I went to a wedding two weeks ago where the bride had her mother's dress remade. The original dress had a high neckline and puffy sleeves. She had that removed to make it strapless - it was so unique, beautiful and touching! So even if your dress isn't in style when your daughter gets married she can fix it up! Here is a picture of my friend's dress (it had lace and blue ribbons on it)

Re: Is anyone thinking of selling their wedding gown?

Thought abuot selling it but quickly decided against it. I couldnt get anywhere near what I paid for it but more importantly, I love it..and I will never buy such an expensive piece of clothing again..i want to keep it. My biggest issue was taht once its gone, I can never get it back so its not worth the money I'd be able to sell it for.

I plan on having it made into something one day.

Re: Is anyone thinking of selling their wedding gown?

I'm sentimental, so I wouldn't, but I only paid $300 dollars for it anyway and I love my dress. I think it's beautiful and I'm hoping my daughter will love it too.

Re: Is anyone thinking of selling their wedding gown?

No, I am too sentimental.

But I want to make the shawl (that I didn't even use) into a christianing robe/dress thing for my future child.

Re: Is anyone thinking of selling their wedding gown?

I laugh everytime I think of this... I was going to sell mine, and my grandmother got all upset, and said what if Jackie O would have sold her wedding gown, what would they display? I was like what? she wanted me to keep it incase there is ever a 'JAnice Showcase' and they want to display memorabilia(sp)

I couldn't sell mine. I love it too much. It's sad I can't wear it again.
