Re: is your dh a chilvalrist?

Definately. Something about Brits and their manners. Always opens doors, helps me with my coat, carries my bags when we shop...and when we go out to dinner, he stands when I leave the table...that sort of thing. It's almost embarassing and in some cases I tell him that I'd rather he tone it down.

Re: is your dh a chilvalrist?

Yes, he is! he also freaks out if I lift anything at all! He yells at me if I carry a chair from room to room, and runs to my 'rescue'! I mean, c’mon, I work out!

oh, susans, it's so cute when a man gets up when a woman leaves the table! It’s so old-fashioned! There nothing more charming then a man with good old-fashion manners!

Re: is your dh a chilvalrist?

David is also very much like this. I don't think I've opened a car door for myself in almost 9 years, unless I'm by myself of course. He always opens car doors for me, any door to walk in to somewhere, carries packages, helps me with my coat (and pulls my hair from the collar!), he'll also walk on the outside when he remembers. He's also really good at fighting his way through a crowd and holding on to my hand at the same time.

I appreciate it every time.

Re: is your dh a chilvalrist?

More yes ... Rob is good. He always carries packages, always opens the door (not always the car door), and always shares his food with me.

Re: is your dh a chilvalrist?

Mine has his good and bad days...like he pretty much always holds packages for me, pays for dinner, holds the door open in a store. But, open the car door for me - almost never! And he forgets to help me with my coat most times. My dad on the other hand, is very old school - always makes the woman walk on the inside, helps with the coat, opens the car door, that sort of thing. I think older guys are more chivalrous - something about the 50s'/60's.....
