John Anthonys Brides

Sorry to be posting over here, but I figure you are my best resource. FH and I are going this week to pick the menu, linens, etc.

Any recommendations would be most appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I don't have any advice for you but I just wanted to say that our friends had their wedding reception there and everything was excellent.
I'm sure no matter what you go with,it will be great.

Which room are you in? I had the cocktail hour and ceremony downstairs (we were suppossed to be outide, but it rained ) and the reception upstairs. As far as linens we did white on white. I thought it looked very elegant and classy, especially with the chair covers. For the menu we chose the tri-plate. I was a little cautious in case people were allergic to shellfish, but the waiters always told guests they could substitute. I was at a wedding yesterday and everyone was still raveing about the food and the service. You will not go wrong with whatever you chose. Feel free to FM me with any other specific ???

If you haven't already .. bring a picture to them of what you want your wedding cake to look like. When we were there for our meeting, which you're about to have, we pointed to a picture in a book they showed us, and the cake we got was really not much what we were expecting it to look like.

But .. it was so yummy!! .. even a year later!!

I was a JA's bride and while I havent been on this site in a long time I do check it occasionally.

You or your guests wont be disappointed in the taste and amount of food presented to you.

We had the mozz/greens (very good) followed by the crepe which was delicious and for entree we did combo because I liked the idea of having 2 choices.

1) chicken boscaiola and filet mignon with veggies and potatoes (yummy - guests actually liked having both - they came up to me saying that at weddings they always cant decide b.w chx and filet and this gave them both. and you can substitute all one type. Filet mignon - all 2 bites I had was very good.
2) poached salmon with vegg/potatoe.

IMHO - I like chicken francaise better than marsala because I dont care for mushrooms so you should take that into consideration for your guests - some people dont like mushrooms.

Followed by almond semifreddo and wedding cake (whipped cream, yellow cake, choc mousse) - remember while whipped cream is delicious, it cant stay out all night on display so maybe you want buttercream. I asked them to throw in the cookies/pastries platter and they did it free of charge for each table! Also make sure you specify the design on the cake - i was a little disappointed too.

Cocktail hr-
we went with the roast turkey and london broil on garlic bread, trad. italian and eastern euro stations, they were excellent. The seafood bar amazing, pastas were penne all vodka, one with chicken and a third i cant remember. and then all of the other things that came with it (passed canapes, bread/fruit station, cheeses, etc...so much food you will not believe it. best of luck to you!

edited to say : I believe you can add entree choices but that increases $ pp.
