I love the show. DH and I are always glued to the TV when they are on. I agree Kate can be very nasty and abrupt

Love the show - the kids They're so freakin adorable. My favorites are Aaden, Collin, and Alexis! Cara also is so sweet. Mady is a real brat, sorry. She whines all the time, etc. and little Joel, he's sooooo sensitive! But boy does he love his daddy! I love that both Jon and Kate acknowledge the true personalities of each of their kids and don't try to sugar coat them - like act like their kids are perfect. If their kids acts bad or bratty, they'll say it and reprimand them, etc. I think they're trying their best to teach them to be good people.
Now, Kate is neurotic, yes. But hey, their relationship works (hers and Jon's) and she is a good mom to her kids. She makes mistakes and will admit them too (like with making the girls get braids, she said she didn't realize it would hurt them and how badly she felt, and how she would never do it again). She's human, not perfect. Can you imagine being on TV and every single thing you do being criticized? I know I myself wouldn't come across as perfect (because I'm NOT by any means) and there are times I get annoyed at DH and raise my voice or catch a tude or whatever. So she tends to do it more often than not - but she also has EIGHT children all day long - so what if she has help with the laundry and around the house etc.? There are mom's with only two kids that have help out there - that's not a bad thing! But yeah, she does get annoying sometimes, lol!
Still, I really like the show. The kids are just so precious!

Ive watched it a few times and i do like it.
Kate annoys me too. The one time I got really annoyed with her was when Jon tried to discipline one of the kids and in front of the kids Kate yelled at Jon and told the kid to continue what he was doing and not to listen. I think that as a parent you should never do that. Even if you disagree with what they just did then talk alone about it, dont disrespect the other parent in front of the other kids. Plus he is the father so i believe he also has a say in how they raise their kids.

I really enjoy the show and DH tells me all the time that I am going to be just like Kate when I am a mom. Say what you will about her but I bet her children are a joy to be around - unlike some of the brats out there today. I am just surprised that she lets Maddie get away with her attitude - I bet when the cameras are off she gets *the shoe*. Well, I would have anyway.
LOL- ITA!! She is a bit neurotic- but the kids don't seem to be afraid of her or anything. They know the rules and they even know that mom hates to get dirty.

I was loving this show but for some reason Im not liking this season as much as the previous ones. I think its b/c I am beginning to really hate Kate, esp after last night's episode. Its like she makes thinkgs more complicated than they have to be...why do the girls HAVE to have their hair braided even after she realizes that it is hurting them?? Also, I totally see how Jodi's sister's blog is true, look at the way she treats her 'helper', I didnt once hear her or Jon say thank you for anything, telling her instead of really asking her that was sharing a bed with a 4 year old when there was a bed free in another room... and there is something off about 2 people who have Nothing to do with any family excpet for one brother (and Kate is one of many children) and his wife and then alientates them too!

yesenia, you kinda summed it up best for me. i like the show, the kids are so cute! and john and kate definitely have their eccentricities, but don't we all. they must be doing something right though when you look at how well-behaved the kids are on the whole and how they maintain some sense of order and peace given that household is hugeee. i always think its nice to hear them talk about how thankful they are for the opportunities and gifts ppl have given them. obv it would be incredibly difficult to get by without any of that and to me, they sound genuinely thankful to be able to do those things for their kids- the vacations and whatnot, which they otherwise probably would not be able to do.

i loooove jon & kate. aeden, hannah and leah are my faaves.
i really only watch now because of the kids. with all the controversy surrounding the parents now i dont know what to believe. i do think in a way that kate is very money hungry and takes advantage alot. she complains about not having any $$ but its been rumored that they make up to $35,000 an episode and $25,000 per speaking engagement. i find it very hard to believe that with a successful tv show running off the cuteness of their kids, their not making any $$.

yeah its crazy but i just read the blog posted on here. They say that they get paid well by the show which is expected. Not only that but the show provides them with an organic chef, kate also has an assistant that does things for her. They also pay for people to do her laundry and iron clothes for her and a bunch of other things.
Not only that but the church has paid for their vacations. And it talked about jon and kate before they had the show. They said that they wrote emails to all their friends asking for financial help and also went to the church for financial help, they speak at churches all the time and people make contributions to them. Meanwhile the person who writes the blog said that years ago when they asked all their friends and family for financial help they later found out that they had alot of money in savings, i think it was given by a family member maybe some inheritance i guess. When they asked kate about the money in savings she said why should they use their own money and something about the community should help.
And now they say that they travel alot speaking at churches, they dont take the kids with them. So seems like they're doing pretty well.
DOnt know if everything in the blog is true, but i definitely believe the show pays them very well and probably does provide them with help.

Is this a bad thing? Other than the claim that they asked for money and supposedly had money in the bank (if that's true, that suckkks).
They are making money for their family and trying to provide them with the type of life that they would otherwise NEVER have had, considering that there's 10 of them and only one parent works? I'm just wondering, because I know that if I had 8 kids, I would want them to have toys, clothes, food, vacations just as if I only had 2 kids and even if they had less of those things because we had 8 kids, I would still do everything I could to try to let them have as normal a childhood as possible. And they always say that they are so grateful for everything that they are given and they acknowledge that they otherwise would never be able to go on a vacation like that or have these clothes, and that juicy juice gives them all their juice, etc. I, too, would want as much help as possible! Shoot, I have NO kids and I would love to have someone come and help with the laundry, clean my apartment, and help cook and run errands

no i agree, ive seen other families with multiple births having a community help them and i thought it was great that people helped them so much.
Just that if what the blog is saying is true, theres more to it than people helping them which there is nothing wrong with that.
For one there is an issue of dishonesty, they say she says there is no college fund for the kids when she speaks at the church so ppl can help with this, but they say there are college funds with the kids so she doesnt understand the dishonesty. Not only that but one friend who helped them out when they said they had no money for paper towels and really needed financial help, said that she later found out they had more money in the bank than she made in a year. So again there was dishonesty. If you say you had no paper towels or money to get small things for the kids, then why would you not use money you do have. One friend that helped just got out of nursing school and wasnt making that much money. I would help someone out in a heartbeat if they were in a situation like they were, but i think i'd be a bit upset if i was struggling with money and helped out only to find out that they had more money than i did, and at least be honest about it. Not only that but when they asked kate about this her answer was 'we shouldn't use our own money to support our family, it was the societys obligation' i think that quote is what bothered me. Society should help people in need of course but nobody can say they have NO obligation to supporting their own family and any money they have shouldnt go to their own kids, which i think as a parent you would think it would go to the kids. Or maybe if the answer was that the money was not going to be used bc that is their college fund and they dont want to touch it.
also now they still speak at churches and ONLY speak about their financial troubles, but the troubles they speak about are from the past. They dont talk about the fact that they get paid more than people make in a year for just 3-4 shows. Plus they get money from product endorsements and appearances. When they had problems i understand asking for help. But to go to a church to ask for help and not being 100% honest with people and then asking people for donations when they make more money than most of those people is a bit wrong. If i were in her situation and then ended up making more money from the show than most ppl, i wouldnt be able to take money anymore and take things from a church such as trips when that money can be used towards the church and other families that REALLY dont have any money and need the money to feed kids. I feel they are taking away from those who might really need it at the moment.
Also its wrong how now jodi is not watching the kids anymore only bc Kate got upset that the network wanted to start paying jodi for her services of watching the kids. Kate got real upset and said she doesnt want anybody else to make money off the show. Now jodi is off the show, even though she has helped her SOOO much, and she decided to hire someone else to watch the kids. She doesnt mind a stranger getting paid to watch the kids but was against jodi getting anything whom has helped her so much.
if the blog is true, seems like she is being greedy.

although its no where near having 8 kids, my mother had me, my little sister and then my triplet siblings (no fertility treatments). we got help for about a year or so. after that the state said that at 9 years old i was capable enough to help my mother with 3 babies. of course thats ridiculous and my mother fought and recieved only 2 more years of assistance with an aide. after that, my family was on their own. keep in mind, jon and kate arent the only ones with 6+ kids, there are sooo many other familes not recieving much assistance because their not on a national television show.
i love the show and love the kids but im starting to see how jon and kate take advantage. i dont think her tummy tuck or jons hair transplant surgery was necessary for their children to survive. its cool that they get all these free trips and such but at the same time they lie about not having any $$. theres been numerous episodes where they say 'moneys tight', or something is just not 'feasible' on their budget. theres no way that with all the $$ TLC is getting for the show, dvds and their upcoming book that Jon & Kate dont get anything. i could care less about the thousands they have, i just think their being dishonest about their financial situation.

Yeah if this stuff is true, then I agree that it's wrong to speak of past financial difficulties as if they are still experiencing them and then still accepting handouts if they are making that much money from the show and endorsements etc. If there are people that are donating hard earned money that could probably use extra money THEMSELVES, then yes I do believe that that's wrong. And the thing about Jodi is really sad because you can tell that Jodi really loves the kids and they had a great time at their house with their little cousins etc. Especially since the tvs weren't really allowed in there so they had like a little haven so they could just have some regular down time, but now they don't have that at all. Why in the world shouldn't Jodi get paid for being on the show when Jon and Kate get paid? I mean, if they weren't going to TAKE AWAY from Jon and Kate or the kids, why would she care? I don't think Jodi was being greedy, but if she could make some extra money for her own family (I think she has 3 kids?) while opening up her home and her life to the world, then I think that's fair. And the best part is that Jon and Kate would have had a FAMILY member that loves their kids helping them take care of them! With the new girl, though, (Jenny?) the good thing is that she can be there longer helping out with the kids. With Jodi, she has her own kids and schedule so I'm sure that with Jenny they have more flexibility in how much she can help. But yeah, I see what you're saying.

Re: Jon & Kate Plus 8
Jenn- i agree they should be very thankful for all the help they are getting bc MANY families in their situation do not get that help.
My dads friend from childhood had 8 kids, they had 7 girls and 1 boy. The mother stayed at home and only the father work. They didnt get ANY help from a church or the community. Everything they had they had to do on their own. They even had 9 kids to take care of at one point bc one daughter had a baby at 17 and she still lived at home but the parents took care of her kid like it was their own and financially they were responsible for the kid.
I think its great that jon and kate got help from people and that people were so giving. Just that now they are in a very different situation than in the past. They make good money off of that show, so much so that they even mentioned jon might not have to work anymore. They HAD somebody who watched their kids for FREE, even when they went away for 3 days for the hair transplant. Which again, a tummy tuck and hair transplant i wouldnt say is necessary when you have 8 kids, that money can be better spent. Other people with 8 kids dont have the luxury of having such procedures done for free. I cant even imagine what its like to have 8 kids, so im sure its very hard. But to STILL go to churches to talk about financial problems i think is wrong when obviously it seems like alot is already being done for them. Not only that but now they want to have larger groups of ppl hearing them speak so they will go to other venues and people have to pay for tix to basically do a Q&A with them.
When they got to the point where they were making alot of money off of the show. They provided her with an assistant that they pay and this assistant does things for them. A chef, a person to do laundry and iron for you, had somebody who watched your kids for free but now hired a new person to watch the kids but the show pays for it. Not only that but the kids receive free clothes, they get paid for endorsements and any appearances they make. Infact now she travels alot speaking at many different places so she is away from the kids alot now. Receives free trips, free surgical procedures such as a tummy tuck and hair transplant, i think when you have extra money to do these things it shows that maybe youre not struggling anymore to feed your children otherwise you wouldnt do this. But at this point you cant really go to churches and tell them how youre barely getting by financially bc its definitely not the truth. If it was i thought jon would be close to being able to not work anymore.
Yesenia-i agree about everything regarding Jodi, its very sad to see how she was treated. Seems like she truly just cared about the kids and would've been better off if she continued to watch the kids.

I LOVE that show!! Kate is a bit too neurotic and strict for me. I don't know how John stands it!
Oh and I HATE how they get so much for FREE and then she b*ches about it! Like the trip to WDW. That meet and greet w/the princesses was done just for them and then she's all complaining and freaking about the kids getting dirty! So ungrateful!
