DH and I are living with his parents while we house hunt. . .hopefully we'll be homeowners soon!

I rent a really nice 1 bedroom apartment. Lots of closet space, open floor plan and nice sized rooms. Well, except the kitchen is tiny. It's going to be hard to find a house that compares. We'll probably stay here awhile and save money. If a baby comes along before we are ready to buy we can move into a 2 bedroom apartment. I'm happy, anything goes wrong, call the super. The parking lot and walkways get shoveled. Grass gets mowed in summer. And we have a community pool which is nice in the summer too.

We rent a large two bedroomapt in a two family house..but my parents own the house. They don't live here tho. So we have the whole apt, a HUMONGOUS fully finished basement and two backyards (they also own the apt building next door and made one yard). We are also allowed to have our puppy..none of the other tenants can lol.
We'd love to own...but can't right now and this is the next best thing. The benefits of our own home..but not so much the responsibility.

In LIC right? do your parents have another apt they are renting in LIC lol i love that area but all the listings i see are for all the new luxury buildings that start at $500-600k for like a studio or tiny 1 br

I chose the 'live with in-laws' option though we don't technically live with anyone. We live in and take care of DH's mom's house (DH's grandfather built it) - MIL is remarried and lives elsewhere.
