Just wondering why

So I was bored this morning and just started reading old posts.....
Why is it that any thread that involves money always turns into drama?
Some that I found:
Post pics of your E-rings--- I mean I dont see the big deal with posting what you have. It doesnt make it more special then someone elses.
Wedding costs- who cares!!!!! I for one sometimes am just curious to see the average that people spent, but what someone spent doesnt affect me.


Ok maybe adding to this will make our afternoon go faster.

Feel free to comment or ask your 'humm... why...' of the boards.

They are just haters because you have a rock Denise , don't get that twisted for a second if they say things like that to your face. I have lots of friends/ family members that have crazy rings never once would I think to say well mine is the friggin hope diamond and yours is cloudy , I am usually say you are blinding me with that ring


I am the same way. I am big on complementing. I have always loved rings- even before I was engaged. When I would see a really pretty one I would make sure to compliment. Once in S.I. I saw this lady's hand and 'WOW' really came out loud. She was really nice and started laughin, I told her how gorgeous her ring was and she thanked me. I can't sit here and lie to you girls -- I got really nosy and I asked her how many carats and told her to excuse me for being so nosy when she told me I said 'Congrats you wear it well'. Was that a bit much for me to ask... probably but I was younger and didnt do it with bad intensions. I hope she didn't feel too uncomfortable.

I am nosey too like that, but you had good intentions about it, not trying to compare. I have asked how many carats before, and people have asked me I do not care , it does not offend . Usually not to strangers but sometimes I can't help but stare if I see a beautiful ring

thats why i ended up staying away from those threads. I had like all the ladies done it in the beginning. Then after all those other post your ring threads i would say oh no here it goes again you knew the moment you saw it being posted that drama will eventually start. And then people start getting so technical oh mine is so and so clarity and this grade and blah blah blah. I cant even give examples of clarity of grade bc i honestly know NOTHING when it comes to any of that. I dont know and i really dont care. People ask me, well dont you know what your own is? uhmmm no it didnt make a difference to me so i never even paid attention. I know DH said it to me once and i just said 'i have no idea what that even means whether its good or bad lol' its the ring my dh proposed with thats what it means lol. Ive had people sit there and say well mine is this grade and this clarity and whatever else there is, and they even say and yeah its what i wanted bc i wouldnt accept anything that wasnt so and so grade it had to be so and so, get over it

And then i hate when people say well mine is smaller but its so much better quality its just as bad as those who say theirs is better bc its bigger, either way its bad. Youre still saying 'MINE IS BETTER' so still a rude remark.

Ive seen people get insane rings who are filthy rich, paid an insane amount for their wedding and divorced a few months later. This is why i dont tell people my ring size, or cost of wedding.



What do these girls do, carry their appraisal papers around and show people to prove their ring is a better cut ect ?? I could say I have all this, but unless you are a gemologist who really knows or cares for that matter what the clarity of your ring is???

BUt for example, this one girl had just gotten engaged, and i said oh congratulations so happy for you and all that. Then just to make convo I said oh did you help him with the ring or did he pick it out on his own? she turned to me and said 'oh no i picked it out and not only that i told him it better be this many carats, this clarity and grade' and i just sat there like oh wow that is a bit much lol, i couldnt believe it. Now the rest of us she was saying this too were all engaged, so we all kinda looked at eachother and one said, i dont know he just picked mine out and i was like yeah he picked mine out too, i just said get whatever you think i would like and thats it, i didnt even say anything about what i would like. I just remember thinking oh wow how can you say that to the guy. Or other girls who just get engaged will say yes i am so happy with my ring its so and so clarity and blah blah blah, and i went after to have it appraised to make sure it was lol. But no situations in person where people were doing it to compare.

I hope they wouldnt compare bc it would just be stupid. My dh got a great deal lol and didnt pay at all what it was worth so would be stupid lol. If they want to compare how much dh's spent based on the look of a ring or even what it is then its their stupidity to assume lol, mine probably spent less anyways

I'm actually not that great. I just tell people how great I am so that i'll feel some self worth.

PS, my ring is 7 carats, a VS1 and it's an A in color (I know D is the whitest, but my ring is so much better than yours the gemologist said if the scale went below a D, mine would be an A)

I have 2 , the small one is for when i have to leave my mansion and see everyone else's homes with icicle lights and above ground pools .
