Kew Gardens/Forest Hills? Any of you live there?

Original post by NapaValleyGirl

DH and I wandered around Kew Gardens/Forest Hills! We're looking to move outside of NYC and considering all neighborhoods.

Any of you gals live out there and can tell us a little about it? Where we should look? We would love to be close to the subways or LIRR.

TIA!!!

My sister lives on Austin street in Forest Hills. She is a 2 minute walk from the LIRR. I love it there and so does she! Anyother info, just FM me. My Uncle lives in FH as well.

I have not commuted from FH for about 10 years now. But back then the express at Continental was MOBBED with people and you sometimes had to let 3-4 trains go before you could squeeze in. Is it still the same or has it gotten better.

I didn't see any comments about the commute so I thought I'd mention that so you know what you might have in store for you if you commute to Manhattan. LIRR is possibility but I would think it's alot more $$$.

is it possible to get a 3 bedroom/2 bath for under 2,000/month? as far as parking with the places that provide parking isn't that an extra $200/month?

honestly the hubster & i commute everyday and we don't have a problem. of course during rush hour it's like any other subway station, but in the 2years i've lived here, i've never once had to pass up trains... so i guess it's gotten better over the years

yeah i was going to say this too - esp not at continental; maybe at roos avenue you'd let trains go by but at continental they aren't so packed. Although I'm one stop west so I just take the local all the way in and i always have a nice comfy seat. it takes longer but i'd rather be relaxed and take a little longer to get in than stand the whole time.
