Kindle v. Nook Color?

My birthday is coming up in a few weeks and I really want one. I'm leaning towards to Nook color. Do they basically have the same features? I know you can get magazines and newspapers on the Nook - does the Kindle have that too? Does the Nook have the glare resistant screen like the Kindle does? I need to know which one to drop hints about to DH Help! lol

After doing extensive research for my mom for Christmas, Nook is better but *not* the color. At least not if you read very frequently. The nook color is back-lit which is basically like staring at a computer screen and is very bad for your eyes. The kindle or the other nooks look more like reading an actual book, though you'd need a booklight if your somewhere dark. Nooks also have the ability to share with other nooks, kindles, and from the public library.

Now, I do know Kindle has come out with a newer version. I know they are much lighter and thinner, but I don't know what the sharing features are like. So that one is worth looking into, but stay away from the Nook color!

Good to know - thanks! I like the sharing aspect of the Nook. I have a lot of friends that read so that can come in handy.

I have a nook color and im obsessed with it! The backlight does not bother my eyes at all. In facr DH originally got me the regular noon for xmas and i hated the screen and that you had to hit a button to turn the page. I like the touch screen much better! Im a huge nook fan and have like 30 books that are lendable so if you get one let me know ill be happy to share. Im a vert avid reader

Definitely - that sounds great! I have to start dropping serious hints to DH lol My sister actually just got a job at B&N so I keep mentioning that we can get a discount now as well. I think he's starting to catch on now lol

I just bought DH the touch screen Nook and he loves it. I wanted to get him the color Nook but unless you're reading a lot of magazines I don't think it's worth it. I kinda wish my Nook was a touch screen! I'm constantly hitting the screen on mine expecting it to do something!!!
