DH are in the process of looking at possible homes and we are trying to figure out what our expenses will be on a monthly basis once we own one. We currently own a co-op but it is much smaller than a home and we know a home will have more expenses attached to it. These are the monthly expenses list we thought of. Are we forgetting anything?
Mortgage&PMI Taxes Electric/Oil/Water Cable/Internet/Phone Cell Phones Car Loans Car Insurance Home Insurance Gas (for traveling) Credit Cards Spending Money Groceries Savings/Emergencies
Thanks for any help!

Re: Ladies who own homes
*Internet (that's addt'l to cable)
* (dont know if you're planning on putting in a landline but if so) phone
* also if you have a pet or pets you would like to figure out what the monthly cost of food & annual vet bills will cost (barring no emergencies)
That's all I can think of right now...HTH

Re: Ladies who own homes
Food you are adding & you have incidentals.
How about if you have a security system in your home. They bill quarterly. Also Landscaping if you plan on having one.
HTH! Good luck

Heating Oil (oops didn't realize you put that in with electric) Exterminator
I would also make sure you have money saved for unforseen house emergencies... like a leak or something else you don't expect. Like our cabinets falling apart on us in our kitchen and having to redo the whole thing. Or our dryer no longer working. Or the fact that we found out in winter the heat didn't make it to our master bedroom that well and we had to rezone it.

Looks good! I also added a separate category to my budget for CVS runs since I never manage to leave that store without spending at least $50.

Water....its not an expensive bill, some places do it monthly/quarterly. Mine for the quarter was about $80. Also I have a sewage bill once a year.
Also, FYI your homeowners & pmi will be included in your mortgage, so its one bill. And make sure to have your property taxes in your mortgage too, my friend didn't do this and didn't realize until her taxes were due!

this happened to me too! i had no idea and one day i got a bill....apparently you don't create an account, its something that is transferred to your name when you close on the house.

You're in Nassau so don't worry about a sewer bill - it's paid in your real estate taxes.
Sewer bills are mostly in Suffolk County (although in some areas in Suffolk they're on the tax bill).
My sewer district bill is $32 4x a year.

Yeah with all our trees we have to have the house sprayed for ants and termites. And apparently now mosquitoes as my lawn is currently unusable. But worried about the puppy with that stuff.
I thought of something else, if the house has a lot of trees you will need someone to trim them about once a year, otherwise in a bad storm you could end up with a crushed car or roof.
