Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week
well... its really split up pretty well for us. i work at a school, so i get home about an hour before he does, and i have extra 'breaks' and days off that he doesn't get... so i usually end up doing most of the stuff around the house, which i don't mind caue i like it done my way he does his own laundry, and he really likes to cook, so we cook together most nights, and hes in charge of taking garbage down to the street on garbage days.... he also does most of the outside stuff like mowing the lawn, weeding, that kind of stuff... so i think we have it down pretty well BTW: i had to train him so much, because hes an only child and his mom doesn't work, so he got used to the laundry and cleaning fairies coming everyday while he was at school-LOL

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week
I work longer hours so he cooks dinner and usually has it ready by the time I come home. He prefers his cooking to mine anyway. I'm usually so exhausted from work that I don't even bother doing the dishes. I'm a bad wife. I'm also messier than he is. We split the cleaning chores-he usually cleans the kitchen and vacuums, and I usually clean the bathroom. We'll clean the other areas together.

Me....but only because I am totally undiagnosed OCD and I think I clean better than he does. LOL.
Lana - this is so me! If he tries to help out, he asks me to continually check his work because he knows of my compulsion!

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week
He does more. I feel so bad. He just has more energy! We have a cleaning lady every other week and I pay for it b/c I feel so bad that he does so much! And, tomorrow I am going out for a fun day in the city while he works on building a deck for us.

Are we long-lost relatives? LOL! I do the SAME thing. He finds it really annoying but I don't blame him!

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week
We have officially shared space for only 14 days but so far he has done more house work. He did the laundry (at least 4 weeks worth plus honeymoon clothes), did all the dishes, took out all the trash ( household and broken down boxes from gifts we finally opened) and he was mopping the floors on Saturday I am loving it!!!!! I hope it continues
ETA - I did the vacuuming and I cooked dinner once

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week
I now drop the laundry off to get done- it cost about the same and they do a better job
and since I have a cleaning woman- I do straighten up our personal items
and don't cook
I am starting to feel like a bad wife!!!!!

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week
i lucked out in this category.
my husband does alot - daily straightening and making the bed, the entire kitchen every night, vacuuming, garbage, sweeping....
I do bathrooms, dusting, laundry, and cooking.
I'm perfectly happy with this arrangement!
He however, wishes I would be neater and cleaner. I call him 'woman' sometimes. Its funny.

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week
HE KNOWS HOW TO MAKE A MESS.. BUT... HE WILL CLEAN UP HIS STUFF AS LONG AS I DONT BUG HIM ABOUT IT
HE ALSO DOES HIS OWN LAUNDRY (AND DID MINE ONCE BUT HE RUINED A GOOD SHIRT SO I TOLD HIM NOT TO DO MINE ANYMORE)
I COOK AND HE CLEANS THE DISHES UP
WE HAVE A REALLY GOOD RAPPORT REGARDING HOUSE CHORES
HE ALSO TAKES ALL THE GARBAGE OUT AND WILL PUT MY LAUNDRY AWAY IF ITS OUT. HE MAKES THE BED IF I DONT, AND HE FIXES THE PILLOWS ON THE COUCH.
I TAUGHT HIM WELL!
PRECANA ALSO DEFINITELY HELPED US IN THAT DEPARTMENT
This is a tough one. I do a lot of the day to day clean-up but he does most of the cooking. We send out the laundry and have a cleaning girl every other week, but everything else cleaning wise is all me. I would say its a 60-40 split.
