How long was your engagement...and if you could do it all over again .... would you have made it longer, shorter, or kept the same?

I would definitely had done a late Fall 05 or even December wedding --- and given the great weather in January - I would have had it then (if we only knew!).
My engagement was 16 months and we originally wanted Fall 05 but our hall couldn't accomodate us for a Saturday night.

Our engagement was 9 months exactly. We got engaged 2/12/05 and married on 11/13/05. I think that was the perfect amount of time for us.

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
We were engaged for 13 months. I think it was a good amount of time. In retrospect, the only thing I would've changed was that we got engaged towards the beginning of August instead of at the end. We had the entire month of August off after taking the bar. It would've been nice to book a bunch of things then b/c we had a lot less free time once we started our jobs. We weren't able to see as many vendors.

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
Our engagement was 10 months long. I never ever considered having a winter wedding before he proposed. The only reason why we got married in January was because it was a good time for DH with school. We didn't want a two year engagement. I wouldn't have minded a full 12 months to do everything (I did NO planning during the first month of our engagement) but 9 months was adequate time!

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
Engaged summer of 2003 and married in March 2005; it was perfect for us and gave use time to save money, buy a townhouse and fix it up--all before the wedding so we moved in literally on our wedding night! :)
Plus, DH gets a nice Wall Street bonus in March, so the timing could not have been better.

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
16 months- I waited 3 months to start planning b/c I lost my Mother the day I got engaged and then my BF was getting married Nov 5
that was the date I orginally wanted- but she beat me to it
but looking back it worked out prefectly and I wouldn't change a thing

23 months (10 days shy of 2 years) Engaged 4/10/04 & married 3/31/06! Would not have changed a thing!
In that time frame, we were able to save & pay for our entire wedding, purchase a home & make it our home!!! I loved every minute of being engaged!!!

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
year and a half and if it was up to me i would have made it shorter
we were going to get married in october 05 but we decided on a spring wedding instead (too many birthdays, anniversaries in the family in October and gave me more time to plan) there was actually a spot in october open at the Vineyard caterers that i wanted to book....
although i loved my wedding, the engagement stress was horrible and looking back, I would have preferred a fall wedding to end all the stress a few months earlier

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
We were engaged for a year and a half...but together for 5 years.
Anniversary - April 24, 2001 Engagement - December 21, 2004 Wedding - April 30, 2006
Wouldn't change a thing! The year and a half to plan was perfect timing.
We were engaged for 18 months . When I first got engaged I only wanted to wait a year. I thought it was going to be soo far away, but the time flew by. Looking back I am glad I had that time to finish my MBA, and make all the wedding arrangements. I have no regrets.
