Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
I was engaged for 1 year and 7 months (engaged on 4/10/04 and married on 11/26/05). Married life is just AMAZING and I have never been so happy in my entire life, had I known this I would have done it a lot sooner

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
I wanted to get married in Feb of 06, but my dad convinced me that the weather would be bad and people wouldn't come. I waited until APril and it rained. Even still, I am glad we waited....we got to go on a longer HM because Spring Recess was so long this year!

Engaged 4 years and 3 months. Perfect amount of time, perfect age and perfect date. Wouldn't change a thing!

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
Our engagement was 11 months..... I think I would keep it the same---since we dated 7 years before getting engaged---however we had to do things fast and it would have been fun to enjoy just being engaged for a while but all in all, no regrets at all!!!

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
It was 2 years. For us it was perfect since we were young when we got engaged(21 & 22) and saving for the wedding to pay for it ourselves. If we were older/richer maybe I would have been engaged only 1 year. But I loved September!

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
Okay, I had to check 'My Account' to figure out how long we were engaged ... about 18 months and I would make it shorter only because in the time between our engagement and wedding, both DH's mom and sister passed away. I would have loved for them to be there.
Other than that, I wish we would have gotten engaged way sooner ... we dated for six years before we got engaged and were 37 & 38 when we got married. I wish we were younger and not looking at not yet starting a family while we are close to pushing 40.

11 months, 2 weeks.
Engaged July 17, 2004 in Italy Married July 4, 2005
If I wasn't a teacher it would have been shorter. At 34 I wasn't having a longer engagment.

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
A little over 10 months - I wanted a short engagement since we'd been dating for 6 years. I felt it was enough time - looking back, I don't know if I'd make it longer - seems to me no matter how long you're engaged the last month is going to be crazy!

10 months. From April to February. I would have done it sooner, perhaps in December but we had a family Bar Mitzvah planned in November and nobody would have been able to come from out of town TWICE so soon. Though DH says he couldn't get married during football season because one of his GM's is a sports writer for the Giants.

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
I was engaged on August 13th of 04 and married on November of 05. So that was about a year and 3 month engagement. Perfect amount of time and I would have changed nothing.

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
Our engagement was from July 03-Oct 04. It was a perfect amount of time to plan a wedding. 1 yr and 3 months.
I would have kept it the same

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
We were just shy of 11 months. We got engaged at the end of July in France and got married early June the following year.
Due to the short time, we missed out on a lot of things, like an engagement party because DH had a crazy work schedule and we didn't want it to be too close to the wedding. So most of my family met my husband AT our wedding (his family is from MA so he went home for most holidays). If we were engaged a tad longer, we could have gotten the 'getting to know you' done ahead of time.
Other than that, though, I think it was a perfect amount of time, and again if DH didn't have a crazy schedule maybe we could have worked all that out. It was just enough time to get many of the vendors I wanted and to do enough DIY projects to make everything 'personal' but not too long to stress over everything little thing that happens and not to agonize over every decision.

18 month engagement was perfect for us. Plenty of time, stress-free planning, got the vendors I loved. We were only 21 when we got engaged so i dicn't need to rush to the altar.

It was 16 months. If I could do it over, I would have made it 10-12 months.

11 months. We managed just fine even with taking the first month off, but if I could have I would have added another 4 or 5 months.
I wanted an October 06 wedding, but changed it out of courtesy to my brother, and we didn't want to wait until 2007.

Re: Leese's NewlyWed Question of the Week...
We got engaged August 04 and married October 05, so that would be 1 year and 2 months later. I think it was the perfect amount of time.
