Who's planning to move out.....of NY?? I've been thinking about it, but just not sure where to go

It makes me so jealous watching shows like House Hunters where these houses in other parts of the country are ridic. But since DH is a teacher, we know he wouldn’t be making nearly as much $ anywhere else.
Plus we both have big families and almost everyone still lives on LI, so it would be really hard to move anywhere else. Even when we were thinking of moving to Suffolk it seemed too far!

I grew up and my family is in New Hyde Park, and DH's mom lives in floral park...
our apt is in massapequa 25-30 mins away and that seems far! I love it out there, but im like i wanna be right down the road again so i can go see my nephew whenever i want!

We are planning to move to Syracuse in the near future.
For what we paid for our gorgeous 1 bedroom co-op, we also found a 4 bedroom, 3 bath gorgeous home outside of Syracuse with a view of the mountains ... for the exact same price.
To think of it that way, we don't want to buy a house here where you just can't get a lot for the money.

We would never leave LI. House Hunters makes me want to kill myself, and I always say lets just pack up and go to Asheville or Appleton or one of those places that are always at the top of the list of best places to live in the country, but we're too fast paced, too NY, and we like the beach and being near the city and our families and pizza and bagels and Italian and Greek food lol.

We live right out side NYC in NJ. I would love to move back to LI (Nassau County) near my parents but DH does not want to live on LI because it is too expensive DH wants to move closer to where he is from - Cherry Hill, NJ outside of Philly but I don't want to move there. I would miss my friends and family too much and I work in the city.

DH and I have lived in many states. He is originally from Detroit and I am from here. We met in Charlotte, NC and that is where he was living when we reconnected.
He would love to leave NY and go somewhere else...probably back to NC. I used to want to leave and go back to NC but since my mom passed in 2007 I can't imagine leaving my Dad and my Sister. He understands why I can't leave.
I was just in Wilmington,NC in October for my best friends wedding and we were looking at the new housing developments. The houses are soooo affordable and brand new!! My only issue is that it is slow down there. While I was there I was told that I talk too fast...HAHAHAHAHA...are you kidding me?
If we were to move out of NY then it would have to be to a city that is close to the beach...not the outskirts of the city. But the reality is that we aren't going anywhere for at least 5 years because we bought our house a year ago.

Last night DH drove all the way home just to see me and then had to go back to CT today. I felt so bad. Its days like that I think we should be living in CT. But we have no family there and the only friends are his work friends. And I love my house.

My parents have a condo out in AZ and are looking to permanently move there! I have tons of cousins on my moms side out there who want me out there as well!

We are thinking about moving to NC. My family is having a house built down there and we were considering following them. DH really wants to, it doesn't bother him that his family will be in NY.. He is actually closer with my family. I really want to because the houses are gorgeous and I will be close to my parents. I want them around to be with their future grandkids. However, on the other hand I have built a life here and I am not sure if I can leave NY... all my friends are here
