So, here's my situation. I'm currently about 60 lbs overweight. I've been on WW 3 times, it has only worked once for me and that one time it worked great. I lost 60 lbs but I wound up gaining 30 of it back. My other 2 attempts left me losing a grand total of 10 lbs and feeling dejected.
After that I went to a Primary Physician thinking that I might have a Thyroid problem, alas, I do not. My throid is perfectly normal. I've seen an Endocrinologist who has even run the gamut of tests on me and declared 'you are perfectly healthy'.
What is wrong with me? No matter how little I eat, I gain weight, no matter how much I eat, I gain weight. I don't know what other kind of doctor I could possibly see or what other things I could possibly be tested for.

Re: Losing Weight??
I am on ww for the second time and the first time, I lost 40 pounds and of that, I have gained half back over 5 years- now I am finding it harder to take off- I work out 3x a week for about 1 1/2 hours and that helps it come off faster.
If you arent exercising- you may want to add some in- even a 1/2 hour walk at lunch 3x a week will help

Re: Losing Weight??
First I am NO expert at losing weight believe me.
BUT what I have found always works for me is traditional diet and exercise. I think that watching what you eat combined with 3-4 days of cardio and strength training should help you to see results.
Also not everyone is meant to be a size 2. I would say eat healthfully, exercise and I bet you will see results...slow and steady wins

Re: Losing Weight??
It's definitely harder to lose weight now that we're older. I lost over 30 lbs on WW the first time I did it and I need to get back on it. Are you exercising at all?

I know the whole exercise part is key. I haven't been to the gym since before the wedding.
I've gained 15 lbs since my wedding. I don't even know how that is possible when I've been eating the same amount, if not less, than before I got married.

It could just be that your metabolism is slower. Definitely kick up the exercise and you'll see the difference!

Re: Losing Weight??
I gained so much after the wedding. Its digusting. I'm starting the diet this week. I cant fit into most pants anymore
I have 0 metabolism but DH has alot and will motivate me to go to the gym (as well as some friends).
The one thing I cant stop is eating at night (late night snack). So bad for you.
The main things is eating right, several times a day and exercising. Two things I hate

Re: Losing Weight??
just another thought- you said that you are eating less- are you eating enough- like all your points? Also, I really find the weeks that I make sure to get all three dairies in daily- I do so much better

Re: Losing Weight??
i lost close to 60 lbs over 4 years, 2 different stints w/ WW. the first stint i lost about 35 lbs with doing very little exercise. i think it was because my eating habits changed so drastically. for the 2nd stint, i was much harder to lose without exercise. i needed to exercise to lose anything. when i got down to my lowest weight i was hitting the gym 3-4 times a week, plus eating very well.
i gained nearly 20 lbs after the wedding, over the course of about 9 months. my eating habits did change for the worst, but not awfully so. but i had stopped exercising, and that's what really caused the weight to pile on. for me to maintain a good weight, i need to both watch what i eat, and make sure i get regular exercise.

Re: Losing Weight??
I just went back to WW this weekend for the 3rd time. Hopefully 3rd time is the charm. Seven years ago I lost 80 lbs, I was in the 300lbs range. I've kept 50 of the lbs off.
I must say went I was on Atkins a year ago the weight melted off but it wasn't a sustainable diet for me. My health markers (HDL, LDL, tirglycerides) were the best they had been, but I couldn't take not having some carbs in my life.
Losing weight I've found is sooo hard now that I'm n my 30's. Before the wedding I was working out like a maniac...no wimpy workouts...like I was sweating, but I wasn't controling my eating. They def. go hand-in=hand...but I think now I need to just ecpect that my 30 something year olf body won't respond the way my 20 something year old body did.
Good luck

Re: Losing Weight??
I gained 11 pounds after the wedding. I started doing no carbs for 2 weeks. I have lost 6lbs so far. I only went to the gym 1 time last week. It is so hard to do and I have my DH pushing me not to give up. I was not happy about my weight. I gained most of it in my stomach. I looked pregnant without being so. I was so unhappy. I couldnt fit into my jeans anymore. I noticed cellulite forming on the back of my thighs under my butt. sorry if TMI. I cried myself to sleep and woke up the next day and said THATS IT! And now Iam starting to feel great! You dont have to be as strict as me with the no carbs, but seriously lowering your carb intake will help. Its hard work and its totally not as easy to come off like when we were younger. Good Luck!! You can do it!

Re: Losing Weight??
A combination of cardio and strength training (weights) is what is really needed to lose weight all over. It worked for me before my wedding but I just don't feel like doing it anymore I am going to start running and trying to do some strength training at home.

Re: Losing Weight??
I know that I do not lose weight because I do not eat enough. But, most of the time I'm not hungry. I am a big girl and have been since I was a child. If I exercise I tone more then lose weight. I can't do Atkins and WW worked for me when I was 12 I don't know if it would work again.
If you eat 3 good meals a day and have small fruit or granola bar like snacks in between you should be able to lose or maintain your weight. I'm not sure which is ideal for you.
Have you been to a nutritionist? Sometimes they can set up 'meal plans' that help.
Good Luck!

Well For breakfast I eat eggs. I cook them different when i get bored. I especially love cheese omlets. I usually have that with a cup of coffee or tea with equal and half and half.
For snacks: I eat Roasted almonds, Pepperoni. Sugar free Jello(sometimes i put whipped cream on it.) Polly-string cheese. Or cheddar cheese cubes. Sugar free Ice pops.
Lunch-I eat anyhting from, grilled chicken salad, egg salad, tuna salad, any kind of meat I want . just no bread. I drink Sprite zero, ar any kind of Diet soda.
Dinner- Steak, chicken, turkey, cheeseburgers, for veggies I eat broccoli, string beans, cauliflower.
There are lists of food you can have online. Dont get me wrong its hard as Hell. Especially the first 3 days. I LOVE COOKIES, and Pasta! I want everything I cant have. LOL. But in the end it will be worth it. After the induction phase, i will maintain a Low carb diet.

Wow never thought of that.
The only thing is I dont have time to make eggs in the morning. I like yogurt or some cereal (but not the healthy ones )
i know a little about it, it was researched at JOhn Hopkins, medically safe weight loss, and you eat like 6 small meals a day so you are not hungry.....
good luck and FM if you want me to get more info from MIL
