mail worries

ok i mailed out a card and a gift card for 100$ to my good friend whose baby shower i was planning on attending but last minute personal stuff popped up so i couldnt...

she lives in flushing...the baby shower was on Saturday, and Sunday i happened to eat at a restaraunt right by her house and put the card right in the mailbox across her house...

she wasnt home sunday night so thats why i didnt go give it to her personally, i figured she'd get it by tuesday....and todays friday and she hasnt gotten nothing

Sunday theres no mail pick up, Monday- Friday it stated on the mailbox that mail pick up was at 10:00 AM... i mean how long does it take to process?/ nothing has come bak to my house i even wrote a return address

i asked her today if she recived my card and she said no...now i feel really really STUPID... i dunno, atleast if i sent her a check...i wouldve known if it got cashed... but what if she doesnt get her card? ugh
I basically put like MONEY in the mail... i feel so dumb...i knew better...
i dunno is there anything i can do...ill wait it out till tommorow

Oh no The only thing I can think of is last yr I sent my brother a card and he never got it but 1 1/2 weeks later it was returned to me b/c I made a stupid mistake on the address hopefully the same happened here

You put it in her mailbox on Sunday, since there's no mail on Sundays she prob didn't check her mailbox. Then the mail carrier prob thought it was outgoing mail and took it at their Monday morning pick-up, so it was gone by the time she checked her mail that day.

Since there was no postage on it the PO isn't going to deliver it to her. They should send it back to you since you said you put a return address, but these things tend to get stuck in some PO vortex for a while. The PO doesn't like handling anything without postage on it so they're in no rush to send it back to you, they don't mind if it gets 'lost'.

I did the same exact thing!!! My cousin in Boston had a baby shower I couldnt attend, so I mailed a babys r us card to them in the mail IN FEBRUARY! I never got a thank you so I emailed them last week to ask if they got it...they are busy with the new twins but he never emailed me back to answer!!!

So I have no idea if they got it or not, and it was more than $100!!!! I feel like an idiot for doing this. I just wish he would email me back already yes or no so i can have an answer about it!!! so i feel your pain

This has happned to me too!


It took two weeks to get to my mother's house when I mailed something from Queens to Queens. It might still show up.


Other times it came back as 'Unknown Address'.
When it was 100% the right address!
