Major Prayers needed (UPDATE 3)
A good friend of ours, 26 years old, is currently in emergency brain surgery at Columbia Presbyterian. He started losing feelings in his legs yesterday and by this afternoon he was a quadraplegic. They found he has a tumor on the base of his brain. He only has a 20% chance of surviving the surgery, and if he does he will be a quadraplegic, a 10% chance that he survives the surgery but can't feel from the waist down and only a 0.62% chance that he has a successful recovery. We are absolutely devastated and all our friends are int eh process of traveling from all over the country to meet in the city tonight to be with his family! Please keep him in your prayers.
UPDATE: SO he survived the surgery last night but the outlook is very very grim![]()
They found tumors all the way from C3 in teh vertabrae to T1. WHen they wnet in his brain was already herniating (bleeding). He will need at least 2 more surgeries later on to reinforce his spine and at this point Drs are saying that he will be a permanent quadraplegic, will always be on a vent, and he may have brain damage because of the bleeding. We are all in shock, his father is still stuck in Colorado because flights coming back are booked. There is still a chance he may die. he is in a medically induced coma right now.![]()
We are all so upset and at a total loss!

Well, he's awake, and talking ,and making jokes....But he CAN'T FEEL ANYTHING FROM THE NECK DOWN![]()

Wwe are all devastated. And, even though he is awake and talking now we don't get the biopsy reports until Friday. The Surgeon is pretty sure that it is AstroSarcoma, a really really rare for of brain cancer that is lethal, NO CURE. So basically this is ging to turn into a waiting game to see if it is that cancer and if it is they will do another MRI and if it continues to spread the only thing they can do is surgically remove it when it grows, which is dangerous, because its brain surgery, and it will just keep growing back. So at this point we are basically going to be watching him die, this is ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC. 26 years old, quadraplegic and now he is slowly waiting to die. I thank you all for your well wishes. We are praying for a Christmas miracle, even though things look so grim![]()

UPDATE 3: So as we all feared he has taken a turn for the worse. He started having problems breathing today and they ended up having to intubate him, sedate him and put him on a ventilator. We are all sooo confused he keeps going up and down and the doctors can't tell us anything. I'm home tonight in CT to get some sleep and then its back to the city tomorrow.
