marriage certificate question

What do you need to change your name? When I got back from the HM, there was a certificate of marriage waiting for me that was sent by the church. Is that what I need or does the town send you something else?

I believe you'll need that to change your SS and your license at DMV. Credit cards and such should just be a phone call

The government will send you one which you will need to change name on your driver's license, social security card, etc.

So it's a different certificate than the one that the church sent to me? Am I supposed to get 2 different certificates?

You need the New York State Dept of Health Certificate of Marriage Registration to change your name. It's not from the Church. And it has to have a raised seal.

It's signed by the county clerk.
