Sooooo jealous Stef !

I went there for my honeymoon and loved every minute - you MUST eat in Lahaina at David Paul's Lahaina Grill - it was AMAZING!!!
NYC quality but pricey and worth every penny!!

ENJOY!!!

Re: Maui Wowee!

We did the sunrise bike ride at haleakala crater- it was the most amazing thing we ever did. You don't need to be athletic or anything. bike ride

The only downside is that they pick you up really early but since we were already jet lagged it wasn't that bad.

Re: Maui Wowee!

I think DH and I ate our way through Maui -
We stayed in Wailea which is about 45 minutes from where you are staying but you are closer to Lahaina than we were.

Definitely DO NO MISS the Lahaina Grill in Lahaina to treat yourself.
David Paul's Lahaina Grill
127 Lahainaluna Rd
(808) 667-5117

We went to the Old Lahaina Luau and like it - I liked the show but the food was not for me - a lot of pork and local food I wasn't wild about but make a reservation in advance if you want to go there - it gets packed!

We also ate at :

Kimo's 845 Front Street in Lahaina -
waterfront open air lanai. Spectacular views of the islands of Lanai and Molokai. Casual seafood and steak.

NICK'S FISHMARKET MAUI- in the Fairmount
Kea Lani Hotel in Wailea - amazing, romantic -
and EXCELLENT seafood in the Hawaiian Regional style. This was my favorite resturant!

Hmm...I have to look at my album, i can't remember the names of the others!

Re: Maui Wowee!

Stef- where did you wind up booking? I think the pictures looked like the Hyatt but then again, they all look kinda similar.

Def. do the drive to Haleakala. It was amazing! Go to Front Street in downtown Lahaina - lots of shopping and restaurants. We went to a good restaurant called the Hula Grill but I can't remember where it was- Oh I think Whaler's Village in Kaanapali.

I'm so jealous- how long are you going for? You will LOVE it! Do you have time to do day trips while you're there to another island?

Re: Maui Wowee!

We went to David Paul's. I am trying to think if that was the restaurant we liked so much that we went twice If it is, there is a shrimp dish there I loved!
Are you staying at the Hyatt? I saw your Hyatt pictures and figured that is where you are staying.

HAve a great time!

Re: Maui Wowee!

Thanks everyone :D

We are staying at the Hyatt. Its the best rate we can find for a nice hotel. Im going to keep looking to see if I can find anything better last minute but this place looks pretty nice to me.

We are staying for 6 nights..but if you count the first day as a loss b/c of the jet lag..its really only 5.

We would love to go to the Big Island and see the active volcano but I dont want this trip to get out of hand in terms of cost, you know. We might decide to do it if we can find some sort of package when we are there but Im not going to drive myself crazy going to different islands b/c i think it would take away from the relaxation factor. We have already been to Oahu so I imagine this is quite different.

Re: Maui Wowee!

Stef - Someone recommended this place to us which was the highlight of our trip to Maui - the food was delicious, service excellent and it was really out-of-the way.

The tables overlook a peninsula with a gorgeous sunset.

I'll have to go through my things at home and find the name of the restaurant - remind me!!

You lucky girl

Since you're staying at the Hyatt - the restaurant there called Spats is pretty good (and expensive but not more than a good NYC restaurant)

Also if you like stars, etc. . . . the Hyatt does a thing where at 11 pm (I think) you go on the rooftop and look through the telescope at the stars. We saw stars, the moon very up close and Jupiter too. It was great

The beach is beautiful. Also, if you want, do a sunset cruise. They have a dinner one (although dinner is not all that great I hear)
and they have a Champagne one.
We did the champagne one, it was really romantic watching the sun set, it's usually mostly couples that go.

Also, I loved the Lahaina Luau. The food is OK but the show is spectacular. If you want to go, you would have to book NOW.
We did the traditional seating where we sat on pillows.

PS - If you tell them you're honeymooning, they will give you an upgraded room and Champagne.

You will love this hotel!!! I stayed there for my honeymoon. Definetly walk thru Lahaina, it is a cute little town, lots of shopping and places to eat. There was one place were we ate, I think it was called Cannoes, it was in Lahaina and the food was great and prices were reasonable.

When you get into the airport, look for the book 101 things to do. It has lots of ideas for sightseeing.

Have fun!!! I'm jealous, I wish I could go back tomorrow

This was one of my favorite restaurants in Maui as well. Spago in the Four Seasons was probably my favorite restaurant in Maui! Yummy! But both are down in Wailea..I stayed there so most of the restaurants we went to were in that area.

The drive to the top of the mt. halekelea (sp? I have no clue) was really nice. We didn't want to wake up at 3am and do the bike tour so we drove it ourselves (at like 7am) and it was gorgeous. The view was beautiful. Much better than driving the Road to Hana in my opinion. Also they had horseback riding in the crater - we didn't find out about that til we got there and it was too late. We also went snorkeling with the giant sea turtles - that was fun...they are huge.

Enjoy your trip!
