Re: maybe this has been done before
DH and I are totally on the same page and it's a completely different page than before we got married!
Before the wedding, we kept saying we were going to try for a HM baby (I was 41 he was 42 when we got married) since we are running out of time. Then right before the wedding, we decided that we would hold off until the new year and we were a little more settled in the house.
At least once a week we have the 'should we have a baby' conversation. We both agree that we want one but when it comes down to actually committing to it and trying for one, we chicken out. We know we have to make the decision soon, but it freaks us both out!!!!
Oh and the age thing - I'll be 42 next month and DH is 43.

Re: maybe this has been done before
This may come off the wrong way- its hard to express what im trying to say typing..
Is anyone ever 'ready' for baby?? I mean.. sometimes taking the time to plan things out just backfires sorta say..
I wanted a house, a perfect set up before even thinking about having kids...
A baby is a beautiful thing.. its a LIFE changing experience and yes there are struggles..but its an awesome experience as well.. I have 2.. My first is 10 and my little one just turned 3.. I wanted to wait for my 2nd till i was in my 30's,,,i got into my 30's and boom..i was like..ok im ready..but God had another plan for me..lol it took me 3 1/2 years of trying, a surgery, and a miscarriage to get finally have him... and he was soo worth the wait..
I guess what im trying to say is that sometimes we have to let things happen.. I know ur hubby is adamant on not wanting one now- and i get it.. he wants you all to himself..... but sometimes THINGS happens when they are suppose to happen..
and guess what.. i still don't have the house, the riches, etc.. but i have 2 amazing and healthy boys...and we do provide the best we can for them...
I know im going in circles..sorry.. what i am trying to say it that it will happen when you least expect it.. and your husband will LOVE fatherhood.. its the best gift!
Can you get on the 'if it happens it happens page'?? Baby steps...

I have the opposite going on- DH has hardcore baby fever and I had it for a day and then it went away. He always talks to me about it and I keep telling him-'maybe next year'. And I'm 36, so I should really be getting down with the getdown, but I just don't feel it.

Re: maybe this has been done before
I am afraid to get preggo now because i want to enjoy being married and a little selfish. however since LIW has been boring (sorry but it's true) i have been surfing LIF, reading posts on the Pregnancy chat and it makes me think... still i want to hold off because we are just not ready.

Re: maybe this has been done before
I would hardly say I have baby fever, but I want to start actively trying next August after we finally go to Greece, and DH has thus far agreed, but I'm sure as it approaches, and if we still don't have a house (which I don't think we will honestly), he'll want to put it off even further. I'm fairly young, I got married at the tail end of 24, am 25 now, will be 26 1/2 if we start trying next August, so in theory time is on my side. I'd ideally like to have at least my first child when I'm 28, and I know it could take months, so that's why I'd really like to start next August, just because I personally think it's healthier to have your kids younger if you can. DH is going to be 30 next month, will be 31 when we start trying, could be 32 when the first is born if all goes to plan...not that that's old now, but FIL was in his 30s when DH was born, and he's the oldest of 3 with a 10 year span from oldest to youngest, so now he's in his mid 60s with kids ranging from 30 and married to 20 and in college and I'm not sure how I feel about DH following in those footsteps, because I'd like to be younger and have our kids and be younger grandparents. Sigh...we'll see what happens.
