I keep trying to defend this girl but come on now...
According to Vanity Fair, she will be appearing topless in their next issue in a 'tasteful' topless shot like holding her blouse in front of her or something from what the outtakes showed.
I am disaapointed in this. I am sure its going to be a beautiful artistic shot because of who the photographer is(she took the pregnant demi moore shots). HOWEVER...This kid IS a kid. She is 15 and she is one of the most G rated characters out there. I don't think its appropriate for ehr to be toted as a role model for all these little girls who look up to her and to be appearing topelss in a very mature mainstream magazine thats not geared towards the tween set.
I understand she might want to be taken more seriously as an adult and if she were 17 and not doing a kiddie oriented show I'd probably care less but..as it is if I had kids who loved her I wouldnt be rushing out to buy any Hannah Montana stuff.
I defended her with the alleged pics of her with that guy that Colette posted because they werent that bad. Just stupid consideringeehr position, but this is DELIBERATELY putting herself out there in a magazine thats features some of the sexiest women in the world...just can't approve if that makes sense.

Re: Miley again...
I just read an article with her saying she's very upset by it. It was supposed to be an artsy type of picture. Her and her family said they liked the pic b/c it looked very natural and beautiful. Vanity Fair is marketing it as a 'topless' shot to sell magazines.
That's what I read....

I saw that on the news. Ah, kiddie porn...her parents should be proud of themselves to allow that.
Come on! She is an idol of my 6 year old nieces! First Jamie Lynn and now semi-nude pics? Should my nieces also walk around like a little hoochie mama because they want to be like Hannah Montana! What are they thinking!!!
Sorry, this just annoys me to no end. She is a baby-15. Put some darn clothes on! Little girls all over America are idolizing her. This is so not okay for some sicko perv to drool all over! JMO

Yea she said she was upset by it but she also defended vanity fair in the next breath saying it was artsy and its Annie Liebowitz and no one can say no to her. So it seems she is just trying to cover her bases in case Disney gets upset by it.
I have no doubt its artistic but if its a shot based on the outatkes she is topless-just holding a blouse to cover her breasts. so its even more 'enticing' because almost like playing a peek-a-boo game.
I'd feel abd if Disney pulled her but at this point id say it was her own fault especially with the other hype about ehr pics going around.

TOTALLY with you on this. Thats what i dislike about the 'artsiness' about the photo. Its meant to be enticing and a 15 year old who is a role model for little girls should keep her clothes on until she is done with the show at least. Break ties with Diseny than do whatever you want.

Re: Miley again...
i hate to say it----but Miley is the next Britney Spears train wreck. its starting already.
weeks ago---South Park did an episode kind of making fun of how everyone would go nuts over britney to the point of her wanting to kill herself. and by the end of the episode they rationalized it saying that this is just what they do (for their 'harvest'--just a joke reason)....a young innocent starlet must be exploited and chased and scrutinized for years until they break! its what our society does. at upon britney's 'death' in the episode.....they showed everyone watching tv and 'Miley Cyrus' was on the tv...and the town rejoiced that 'the next one' was being prepared for their harvest.
they weren't far off at all......she will be watched like a HAWK by paparazzi like britney was....and each time she does something 'questionable' -- it will be everywhere. when she gets older and wants to break away from her disney image....people will go nuts about it.....and lets be real...the britney syndrome will get her.
ETA: this is the pic from the cover of the paper today:
honestly---i don't think its as BAD as people are making out to be. i just think the press is DYING to make Miley Cyrus look like a tart

I hope not. One thing for Miley is that her family situation in MUCH more stable than Britneys. Britney's ENTIRE family is a debacle!!!

I hope that doesn't happen to her but it does seem she's acting out.
if she were an 'adult'-17/18 I would be less harsh with it but she is fifteen and doing a show geared towards the younger set.
I agree with Mich its kinda sending that 'look I can be sexy at age 10' vibe, that isn't helped by the crazy crap out there like 'JUICY' or 'YUMMY' on the back of a 7 year old's sweatpants.

Exactly! What happened to being classy? Does that exist anymore?

I dont know the specifics but if thats the shot...Kinda sounds sexy to me..very come hither a la honeymoon shot looking back at DH like 'come and get it Big Boy.' The over the shoulder look is always a little seductive in an innocent way but when grown women do it its cute and sexy. When a child does it..just odd.

Yeah, well now that I see the actual pic, it's a little much. I didn't think there was so much skin showing.

I agree the media is hping it up alot and thats unfair because its NOT that bad-if she was an adult not underage AND if she was not doing a disney show geared towards children.
The Harry Potter kid did a nude scene in some play and I shrugged it off because he is of age but she is underage and thats oen of ym main issues. Young girls look at ehr and say 'oh she's almost my age!' and can relate to her and I just dont feel its appropriate.

I'm with you! I'm sorry, I think as an idol to little girls it comes with responsibility - and this is just plain irresponsible on her part and ESPECIALLY on her parents part!!!! Even the picture of her and her dad in the post disgusted me. Put some clothes on - you are FIFTEEN!!! If anyone else other than Annie Liebowitz took this picture, the police would be knocking down the door and arresting the photog for kiddie porn. I see kids at the mall walking around like hootchies and it makes me want to give them my jacket to cover up!

Re: Miley again...
um why would someones parents allow this? thats just weird! And creepy. Maybe its an artistic shot and vanity fair is just amrketing as topless for publicity, but they should ahve made it clear in the contract that it couldn't be marketed that way. Come on- they should know better!!!
I hadn't seen the pic before, but its not as bad as it sounds in the media. But if I was a parent I would not have allowed this. Especially a parent in the media. They should have known with ehr level of fame, it would be blown out of proportion.

i can see people being up in arms and such--but the media is blowing it waaaaaaaay out of proportion. how many 6 yr olds that are fans of hers read vanity fair? they probably wouldn't have known ANYTHING about it without the media hoopla.
if anything---be pissssed at her FATHER who was there that day AT THE SHOOT with her.......and who saw EVERY SINGLE shot that was done by Annie Leibowitz......and approved it. i just hate people going nuts on Miley---when she probably didn't think much of it---especially when her dad said 'okay--good run that!'
this was the statement that Annie Leibowitz released:
'Miley and I looked at fashion photographs together, and we discussed the picture in that context before we shot it… The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful.”
heck--miley probably saw some fashion mags where models are wearing LESS than her and thought 'i bet i could do that!' people gotta leave the poor girl alone

That I have to agree with. her dad should really have stepepd in because she is underage. BUT at the same time if she is going to amke adult decisions as she did here by saying :but its annie Liebowitz' and she knows the woman photographs older women in 'artistic' psoes (she obviously was familair with her work) than she also needs to take responsibility. I am glad she apologized but wish I could take it more seriously than packpeddling.
