mini day-cations

okay soooo instead of going away for a week at the end of the summer , Tom and I have decided to do more of day-cations around LI or close to it.

we are hoping one of the days to take our anniversary pics.....im discussing w/ the amazing photographer now to work out details......but hopefully during that week we can work something out

do you have any suggestions as to wear to day-cation?????



so far i have a trip to the city ..not sure as to do what yet..... and six flags

A day trip to the city is a great idea. I live in Queens and commute to Manhattan every day so I was just thinking of Montauk and Fire Island because that's where we go to 'get away.'

If you go to the city for the day, how about dinner and a Broadway show and drinks later?

trying to stay clear of 'beach' lounging, my DH hates the beach, ........when I LOVE LOVE LOVE it...lol

- do you have any suggestions of things to do besides sitting on a beach in these places?

im gonna write ALLLLL these ideas down and then discuss w/ DH

its gonna be a JAM packed week of NON-STOP fun ha ha

we did a couple of day-cations last summer.

Bronx zoo
out east for wine tasting
Montauk (monument, outdoor restaurants, we stopped at a farmer's market along the way and in a couple other towns and just walked around the stores)
aquarium
nyc (museums, central park, window shopping, eating!

wineries
in riverhead you can do the aquarium and the riverhead raceway
splish splash!
Fire Island

me and DH went to the Bronx Zoo this wednesday...it's free on Wednesdays, just gotta pay for parking....we had a good time! Sure beats lounging around doing nothing.

What about seeing the statue of liberty?

Me and DH love splish splash...yes we're a couple of 5 year olds lol I get antsy sitting on the beach so I'd rather do other outdoor/water things.

we also went to planting fields arboretum and had a picnic one day.

i had always seen people painting over there and i always wanted to do it too, except I don't paint! so i bought a paint by number and did it there... we had a lot of fun... we also got a little freaky in the rose garden!!! just watch out for thorns!!! :lojavascript:FEmote('');l:

Hmmm.. when we've gone we went to the beach. I can ask DH for suggestions. He is from Suffolk County so he is more of the expert on Montauk and Fire Island. But I can help with the city day! FM me if you need recommendations on Broadway shows. There are also museums, horse and carriage rides in Central Park, Top of the Rock, Empire State Building.. I will think of more.

I haven't been, but I hear the Liberty Science Center (I think in Jersey City???) is awesome. Dh and I plan to go there sometime soon. Tomorrow we're headed to the Bronx Zoo...I'll let you know how it is...if we don't die of heat exhaustion, LOL.

met game and then go by gina house

If you want to do one night away you could go to Montauk and take the passenger ferry to Block Island


JERSEY SHORE!!! It's about two hours to Seaside or Asbury Park is much closer. When you doing this? If were down there you can come visit Jason and I at Seaside and we can go on the hunt for Snookie and the Situation. I hate what they did to the shore, but I know you LOVE them, so I would humor you.

we did an overnight in ct and went to mohegaqn sun and foxwoods. there is also mystic aquarium over there too. we had a great time and felt really far away.
