Minor update to the money vent---I blew up yesterday...
As if you couldn't see that one coming when your read my thread. Here's what happened:
All of our bank statements came yesterday. We each have a checking account, savings account, and a joint savings account (5 accounts in total)
I was going to file away the statements, but then DH grabbed them and noticed 'hey, we HAVE money? I thought we were broke?'
So, I jumped up and ran toward him- trying to grab the statements and, of course, he wanted to know what the hell was going on.
So, I started to cry and said, we DON'T have money. That money is already spent. I didn't want you to see it.
He said, 'um, it's not spent, it's in the bank'
I said, 'no. It's spent on your birthday gift for your 30th birthday. I ordered something and I have to pay for it.'
He said, 'why did you get something so expensive?'
I said, 'I DIDN'T. Your mom offered to help me pay for this gift and now she's acting like she doesn't speak English whenever the subject comes up.'
He said, 'You know that my mother lives in fantasy land and you can't trust her to follow through on financial matters'
Then, he said to give her a few more weeks and if she doesn't come through with some money for me, he's just going to tell her that he is aware that she offered to help me financially with something for his birthday and that she needs to follow through with her promise, otherwise he will be very upset with her (and he told me that he would actually help me pay for 'whatever it is'- I told him that I won't take his money, but just to understand that I am STRAPPED for cash for awhile)
