So last night wasn't the greatest for me. I ended up NOT fulfilling yesterday's QOTD because DH pulled the 'I don''t feel well' routine on me...well, no one told you to go to an all you can eat buffet and have breakfast, lunch, AND dessert, then have more coffee and dessert at home with my parents, and THEN ask me to make dinner at 9:00 at night!!!
If that wasn't bad enough, he gave me his card at 11:02 PM, and actually timestamped it as well as dated it. I was a little annoyed at his general lack of giving a shiz about anything anymore, plus I was riled up and antsy, so I just watched some TV as DH lay next to me moaning that he felt like he was going to throw up.
So then all of a sudden I start hearing this weird beeping noise. It sounded distant, and happened every 30 seconds or so. We got up to check all our appliances and the smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector, and we couldn't find the source. We tested the carbon monoxide detector to make sure it worked, and found that the beep it made was identical to ht ebeep we were hearing. So it dawned on us that what we were hearing was the alarm from our landlords downstairs, who are in FL for the winter right now, so we got in to a panic thinking we were going to die, and that maybe DH felt nauseous not because he was a gavon but because we were slowly getting poisoned! We were about to call the fire department and run to IL's to sleep the night, until we found the manual and realized that it was signifying not an alarm, but either the batteries were dying or that the detector reached the end of its 7 year shelf life. We verified that probability because ours was manufactured in September 03, so just approaching its 7 years as well. So we decided that we were safe, and went back to bed, but we're calling their sons today to come change the battery or get a new one in because it's really annoying to hear it beep every 30 seconds!!!
So longwinded, but that brings me to the QOTD...what's the scariest thing that has happened in the place you live with DH? Or the scariest thing that happened when you lived at home? I actually had a worse carbon monoxide scare at my parents a few years ago when the fire department did have to come because the alarm was legitimately going off, but it turned out to be a false alarm.

Not in our place together, but it was 4 or 5 years ago at my apt in Manhattan. I had broken up with my boyfriend the day before, came home, decided I wanted to take a shower. I got naked and peed in the bathroom but realized I had left my towel in the bedroom (which I NEVER do, but had b/c was distraught over breakup and just sloppy). In bedroom, I see an earring on the floor, pick it up and put in my jewelry box. The jewelry box is EMPTY. I realize I was broken into. I call a friend and she says go downstairs and wait for me, and she calls the cops. The cops come, and the deadbolt is turned in my apt. Ummmm. I didn't lock the door when I left. Long story short, they get in apartment and the window is now open. The burglar had BEEN IN MY APARTMENT WITH ME, AND HID IN THE SHOWER. He wasn't there to hurt me, but thank God I had left my towel in the bedroom, otherwise I would have opened the curtain on him. They knew he was in there b/c his bootprints were all in the shower!
OMG...this one is REALLY terrifying. I would have been afraid to be alone for weeks. Wow.

I'm glad you're okay!
The scariest for us also involved the smoke detector. We're also renting and when we first got possession of the house, there were no working smoke detectors. Before I'd let DH sleep there (I didn't move in until after the wedding), I insisted that we install batteries in the smoke detector downstairs and install a smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector upstairs.
A few weeks before the wedding, DH got something on the comforter. I was on my way over to the house when he tells me he's going to put it in the washing machine. I told him it wouldn't fit and would have to go to the laundromat. He crammed it in anyway.
I get there and we're installing an organizer rack in the bathroom and I hear beeping. DH says it's probably the TV. I go into the kitchen to try to see what's going on and see smoke pouring up from the basement. I screamed. DH nearly killed himself rushing out to see why I was screaming!
Thankfully, I made it downstairs before the washing machine actually went up in flames! The comforter had gotten caught on the agitator and the motor seized. The comforter and the washer were shot, but thankfully no major damage was done!

scariest thing to happen to us was in our new house. DH was taking garbage out and the baby choked on formula and stopped breathing, turned purple. I freaked out hardcore, we brought her to the ER and she was fine. (She was super tiny and her organs are a little immature)
OMG. I can't even imagine how terrifying that must be! Thank God she was okay!
