Name Change
For those of you who changed your last name.. where did you begin. I heard there was a name change kit out there. Did anyone get it? Was it useful?Also.... is anyone going to miss thier last name? I am kind of sorry to leave it behind. One of my friends made it her middle name.

Re: Name Change
I changed it. It is strange to have a new last name but I am getting used to it.I started with the Social Security Office, then the DMV, then my bank.
I still have my passort and credit cards left.

Re: Name Change
I changed my name at my bank and credit cards, then DMV then SS. No name chane kit needed!I thought of making it my middle name but I really like my middle name & wasn't crazy about my maiden name (very italian and I relate more to the irish in me)

Re: Name Change
i just did SS, i'll go to DMV this week... then i'll do credit cards and bank.I was thinking of making last name my middle, but my dad calls me by my middle name, so it would be sadder to part with that. I hate my lastname anyway... but its still sad to say goodbye.

Re: Name Change
i am in the process of changing. i did my bank accounts first, i am doing ss by mail and then i am going to do dmv. i suppose i can do all my credit cards now, and passport, ugh, i can only imagine what a pain that will be. i am actually taking my maiden name as my middle name. i am having a really hard time parting with it. i love my last name and my new last name is very long

Re: Name Change
I changed mine...I started with SS and I made my maiden name my middle name and dropped my given middle name (I didn't like it anyway
). Then I went to DMV. Once those were done...I called credit cards and utilitity bills in over the phone...some asked to be faxed a copy of the marriage certificate. I did the bank in person and then mailed away for my passport. It was pretty easy...don't waste money on a kit. I found this site very helpfulFree Bridal Name Change Kit

Re: Name Change
No need for the kit.I did SS office, DMV (same day), bank Credit card companies, work everything but one bank is done (that is where I hide the money for presents). It is pretty easy and most of the forms of self explanitory.
