Name Changing Process

Hey all, I'm a new newlywed :)
Just wondering if anyone has any tips on making the name change easier.
I got the name change kit, and couldn't believe all the different things it came with!

Did you have to go to SS in person???

I did mine in the mail, but I had to send them my marriage license & passport... I had them back within a week though.
