Need some advice from you guys re: your invitations.

Hi, What did you include in your invites? what inserts? was there something that you wish you could have inserted, but hadn't thought of at the time?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Mine was very basic ~ invitation, reception card, response card, directions to church and reception.

Mine was simple too:

Invitation
Response card
Reception card
Directions card (to church, hall & hotel for out of town guests)

I had my direction cards made to match my invites. I included
invite,

I had my direction cards made up to match my invites.. which include the hall, church and hotel.. now, I also have written directions made up to match.. should i have written direction cards made up for the church? and a friend is doing us a favor and is having a couple of the side streets coned off so that guests can park.. how do I do this?

I was going to originally send them a flyer or some sort of card, for them to put in their windshields or to show the officers when they get to the church.. should I just send them when I get their acceptance (RSVP)?

What if you printed up a direction card to the church and put...

Reserved parking will be available at the church. Please keep this card to use as identification for the designated parking area.

or something similar? By the time RSVP are coming in, the last thing you are probably going to want to do is send out another mailing to your guests.

that's a fabulous idea.. I was probably trying to give myself time to figure out the wording! lol but thanks to you, I won't have to! lol

I called up my church and they don't have written directions to the church to give me.. where can I find directions?

besides the basics...I included something a little different

I asked guests to help us make a memory guest book...and to bring a photo of the B &/or G withthe guest to put in our guest book...

yabbobay, I wanted to do that, you know... how was your turn out? did many bring pics??

I was thinking of totally forgetting the whole guestbook thing being that most people never bother..

To get the directions either do the route your selves from various main roadways (LIE, northern state, etc) and note the distances. Or get something off mapquest. I am surprised they dont have one copy to give you.

they must have something. or else is there a big restaurant or someplace nearby that you can copy?

I am trying to do my own based on the mapquest directions and I'm cross checking the directions with an actual map..

marcella-see if theres a big hotel or restaurant nearby that can mail/fax you a direction card (call and say you'd like to go there for dinner/event whatever) sometimes mapquest is not the best bet. Directions from actual places are better, theyll give you landmarks (left turn at Amoco station, etc etc)..

go to yahoo yellow pages, 'change location' to the addres of the church and then search for any major hotel or restaurant...
