Need some newlywed advice

Original post by Mrs. V 2008

Girls I need help! I've been kind of depressed lately about this. Sometimes I feel as if DH doesn't appreciate me. I know its kind of stupid..but he hardly ever compliments me or does cute little romantic things. I almost feel like I'm not beautiful as I once was to him, and it makes me feel like crap. And lately I feel as if our life in the bedroom isn't as exciting as it once was (mainly because its not as frequent). Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels like they are in a rut from time to time? What can I do about it?

Re: Need some newlywed advice

Other AWESOME books for both hubby & wife to read: 'If Only He Knew'(for the men to read) by Gary Smalley along with 'For Better or For Best' (for the women to read)...we read these in our pre-marital classes and they were AWESOME. I saw distinctive REAL change in my husband...as did he with me. It's great because it covers deeper more serious issues that are really important, but then also throws in some humerous things like saying 'wow u turn me on when u take it upon urself to do things..it's sexy!' - I SWEAR it got josh doing the dishes MUCH more frequently! lol. but ANYWAYS, other good reads to check out as well

Re: Need some newlywed advice

I was thinking about this thread!!

after reading it, i decided to switch things up!!

Last night i made it ' offical margarit monday'
i made fajitas (dh's fave) and margarits we had to much fun and laughed so much ( 1/2 a bottle of bicardi later) and than well i changed into something more comfortable!!!

It was fun to do something out of routine!!! I also spoke to DH and he said we should make more quality time!!

Re: Need some newlywed advice

DH & i have been together for over 7 years...and lived together for about 6 of them...we still leave each other little notes here & there...and he will thank me for cleaning the house...and i'll tell him the dinner he made was delicious...i think it's important to still appreciate each other for the little things you do...even the mundane everyday things...it helps us feel like more of a team...when i do get upset with him i will take a few minutes & write him a letter or an e-mail explaining how i feel and why i feel it...i am better at communicating that way so i don't get all heated or upset...that's what seems to work for us...the important thing is to find what works best for your relationship! Communication is key.

Re: Need some newlywed advice

You're definately not alone on this. DH is at the Villanova game rt now and asked me to pick him up from the train station at 12:30,,,,hello I have work tomorrow and so do you! Oh and by the way he asked me to take the 40 YES 40 bags of leaves out to the curb and the recycling out. What!! I feel like I'm doing something garbage/cleaning-related every night!!!!

Re: Need some newlywed advice

Ok maybe I need to learn from this advice too, b/c I've run out of nice ways to ask DH NOT to leave wet towels on our new hardwood floor or beg anymore. This has been going on for months at no fail no matter how nicely I ask.

Re: Need some newlywed advice

hey kristen i know i havent been on much but i just wanted to pop in and say sweetie your totally not alone!!!! and mind you, you have one of the most rockin bodies ive ever seen so i hope its not a self image thing! your beautiful... but i totally agree with you on the not feeling appreciated thing! i know my dh appreciates me and he does tell me!. but im having other issues... i started a new job 1 week after i found out i was pregnant and have been feeling pretty crappy since finding out about the baby and have no energy. it doesnt help that i work overnights so by the time i get hom after work i just crash and need like 10 hours of sleep. and when DH gets home hes upset that Nothing around the house has been done and he feel slike hes always cleaning up. and i try to explain that im really trying but if i run myself into the ground im going to crash. so i think he's feeling more like you then i am. but i feel he doesnt quite appreciate that im carrying his baby and that, that in itself is a JOB! ontop of the new job and baby were trying to buy a house so its alot of things!

i think its really imporant to do date night. we try and do it at least once a month. so dress up and surprise him after work with a nice dinner out.. it doesnt have to be $$ go to outback or olive garden. jst something out where neither of you have to do dishes or clean up after! it will get better!

YAY sounds like you had such a fun night, GOOD FOR YOU

my friend always used to do that. She used to make it mexican night and make mexican food and drink margaritas, or do german night with german food and with beer, and so on. They would make it a theme and have drinks that go with it and hang out

awww thanks so much meg..I needed that! reassurance that is..As much I hate to admit it to myself, it is sort of a self image problem..mainly because I don't any compliments from him even when I go out of my way to fix myself up. I sometimes almost feel unpretty to him (if that makes any sense) and the non frequent lack in the bedroom weakens my self esteem more! Thankyou for your advice..and I totally Look up to you..that your able to carry a baby and do all that..good for you!

Re: Need some newlywed advice

ugh DH and I are in a black hole that we cant get out of - so i feel your pain!

I feel like we keep thinking that we are out of it but then we arent really

blah!

and READING about lingerie makes me sad i gained so much weight I dont want to put anything on and see how tight and gross it is on me i am even considering buying something new just so i dont have to feel like that!!!

and i definitely agree with a PP about wearing dirty sweats all the time. I change into sweats to cook and clean but I always try to change before he gets home

dont think i am changing into a ballgown or anything i just got matching sets from VS LOL
