I didn't HM there but have been to Spain - it's beautiful. We went to Madrid, Seville and the Costa del Sol (Marbella) and did side trips from there.

I stayed in Barcelona for 2 days prior to the cruise.
We stayed at the Hotel Diagonal which was FANTASTIC! Stay at the one in Las Ramblas which is where all the action is.
DH and I spent time walking around Las Ramblas which is loaded with shops, cafes, entertainment, etc. It's so much fun and just walking through those alley ways and passing through these structures from the 16th century was SURREAL! There is also the Picasso Museum which is a must see. Let me know if you any additional info.
