Re: Newlywed Contest - Share a wedding tip and win an iPod Shuffle!
Its easy to get caught up in all the little details, and yes it is truly one of the most important days of your life....but remember this its about the marriage, the life you and your FH are planning to have together and that is the most important thing!

i think its okay to splurge on something you maybe can't afford if it's something that will last.like obviously your photographer. or doing boudoir pics. or getting a fancy piece of jewelry you can keep and pass down to a daughter or something.

If you are using a bus or shuttle to trasport out of town guest from the hotel to the reception, make sure you put a list together of all of the names of poeple staying at the hotel with their phone numbers. Have the driver make sure everyone is present, if someone is missing, give them a call so that nobody gets stranded!

plan to have a day after breakfast for guests at the hotel.i was very against it at first, but the day after you are still glowing and wanting to celebrate and it's nice to say goodbye to the guests you didn't get to spend a lot of time with the night before.

Re: Newlywed Contest - Share a wedding tip and win an iPod Shuffle!
Have your bridal party take some videos and pictures of your top must 5 photos or video opportunities. I gave my photographer a must have top 5 list and of course, those were the only photos NOT taken
I'm upset i trusted my photographer so much and didn't have a plan B for the precious moments I wanted captured.

My wedding tip would be to take meditation/yoga classes. You will definitely need it with all the stress that wedding planning can cause!!

My one tip is that when you go to bridal expos and online webpages....make a new email address for yourself and use that and only that for wedding stuff. Otherwise your inbox will be infested with A LOT of wedding stuff. Plus then it's all centralized in one place for you.

Keep organized with a to-do list and always try to do things on the list in advance, in case things go wrong. Something else always gets added on even after you accomplished some of the tasks!!

Don't forget about the honeymoon! With all the planning and focus on the wedding it can be easy to forget that you have an amazing trip ahead of you! Remember, to give yourself plenty of time to book your travel arrangements bc you'll get much better prices if you book early!!!

Planning a wedding can get very stressful. Take some time off of planning to spend time with your FH and reconnect.

Remember the reason behind the wedding, its not the party its the marriage itself.

If signing a ketubah, or the marriage license for photos, make sure you bring a nice looking pen. We forgot to bring a pen and had to end up using whatever was around. It stood out like a sore thumb in photos and DH is always bothered by it, wishing we had a decent pen that day.

Re: Newlywed Contest - Share a wedding tip and win an iPod Shuffle!
Pre-fill in your response cards with their names. That way 1. they know exactly who is included in their invitation and 2. so when you get it returned you know exactly who is coming. So many people forget to write in their names or write down the number attending. It is best if you do the work for the guests, so that you don't end up with blank cards and no idea who just rsvp-ed back.

Don't feel rushed or pressured into making a big decision, for instance a vendor. Take time to think about it before making a commitment.

Re: Newlywed Contest - Share a wedding tip and win an iPod Shuffle!
Have a designated place and/or person for gifts. My bridal attendant was taking gifts, my doc was taking gifts, I was handed gifts, DH was handed gifts, there was a gift table at the reception... at the end of the night it seemed like things were scattered everywhere and we were scrambling to make sure we didn't leave anything behind. try to make sure they all go through the same person or are all together in one spot.

Re: Newlywed Contest - Share a wedding tip and win an iPod Shuffle!
If you can, provide transportation for your guests to and from the hotel. Not only is it a nice gesture, it actually keeps people at your party longer since they have to wait until the end to leave rather than deciding to go back earlier if they didn't feel obligated to wait. People are also more likely to drink and relax if they know they don't have to drive or worry about how they will be getting back.

Remember good posture, especially when posing for pictures. I wish I remembered to stand up straighter and taller during the ceremony and picture taking. I was so nervous I was hunching over all day!!Welcome New Vendors
