Sorry if this is a stupid question but I could of sworn I heard it somewhere... is it true that you shouldnt have sex the day before going for a pap smear?? Will it make the results inaccurate>?

NO Unless you herd it from a Dr. which I would find amazing. To be honest. I am not laughing at you I am just thinking how if this were true how inaccurate my results have been from the past years.

Re: No sex before pap test?
actually my dr. did say no sex 24 hrs prior.
taken from web md.com
'What Do the Results of a Pap Smear Mean? A normal Pap smear means the cells from the cervix look normal. An abnormal Pap smear means the cells do not look normal. Sometimes repeat Pap smears are needed. Different tests also may need to be done, such as a colposcopy (the use of a special microscope to examine the cervix and vagina). Pap smears can occasionally show signs of infection but cannot be relied on to screen for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Other tests are necessary to determine the presence of an STD.There are several things you can do to help make the Pap smear as accurate as possible. These include avoidance of sex, douching, and vaginal creams for 48 hours before the test.'These include avoidance of sex, douching, and vaginal creams for 48 hours before the test.'

This is sooo interesting to me b/c my Dr. NEVER NEVER Told me that - they don't call you to tell you that bfr I think that they should if this is a issue.
So um.. What would that mean the test would be inconclusive than None of my Paps ever came up with issues
I am going to call my OBGYN as my test is coming up soon.

It is true - it can cause some cells to look abnormal on the test.
