Not sure if this has been asked but.. Do things really *change* after your married?

Original post by MarcellaBella

FH and I have been living together for 3 years this December.. (we just had our 3 yr. anniversary on 5/7, and we moved in with each other after having dated only 2 1/2 months)

When I speak to people they tell me, 'things will change when you get married' and when I ask them, well it's already as though we're married, they say it's different and things will change..

Now, I don't mind change, if it's for the better, but I'm kind of getting anxious and a bit afraid of what this 'change' or the 'difference' will be..

have any of your relationships changed after having gotten married? could you shed some light perhaps what this 'change' or 'difference' is? any tips?

Thanks!

No big changes here. We just continued what we had as husband and wife. I think our big changes will come come with a family.

Jenn, thats probably becuase you did spend 4-5 nights a week with him..
I think for some ppl that really truley have not had the chance to do that.. things would seem to change a bit once they started living togeter as a married couple.
As for me.. we have lived together and raised our son together, so nothing has changed cept that I call him my husband now and not 'my boyfriend' or 'my sons father'

Things 'changed' more for me the first 1-2 years that we lived together, which were before being married. I can't beleive how long it took for me to adjust to living with him, in terms of habits, dividing chores, etc!! After marriage, I think the only things that changed were the lifetime committment becoming more real, I call him my husband, changed my last name and got pregnant.

It's only been a few weeks, but I definitely feel something and so does he. I think the 'quiet confidence' that everyone mentioned is a good way to put it. He became so much more emotional since the wedding too - it's amazing for me to see! We lived together for almost a year, so phyiscally there are few changes, but definitely emotionally and it's been wonderful! His kids have even changed - they say 'I love you' each time before we hang up the phone or close an IM! And for the first time this weekend Mitch and I will share the same bed when the kids are over - I can't wait!! LOL!

It feels more like a family now - the change has been wonderful!!!!
