~*~*~NWQOTD 11/30~*~*~
Goooood morning!!!I thought about today's question for a while. Soo this is what I came up with:
In the process of getting engaged/wedding planning/getting married/being newlyweds.....WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE RECEIVED ABOUT MARRIAGE, AND FROM WHOM?
ours was from our officiant (rabbi) who told us that from the moment we got engaged we were a team, and that we should always present ourselves as such with our families/parents. if a parent disagreed with something one of us did the other should always back up and support the first publicly, even if not privately. never let disagreements be known publicly if it involves family, always present a united front.
...i really liked that, it wasn't cliche and made a ton of sense!

i like this too! i heard something similar.eta: nothing i really heard or was told, but what ive seen/learned......every couple is different. DO NOT compare your relationship with another couple!
just make your marriage WORK. even when things seem like a lot of work or more stressful than 'everyone else'...you guys are in it for YOU not for others.
dont compare!
(i say this from experience, especially since it has taken us a long time to move into our co-op....which is something i would have never thought would have been an issue before)

A co worker told me 'Enjoy each other'. I just like it because it's so simple and true.

I just like the notion of being married to your best friend... and DH is. Even though sometimes I want to murder him in his sleep.
One time Dr. Oz said on his show that every day you should have a 30 second hug because hugs have such healing power on the mind and body.
DH is always like 'Remember what Dr. Oz said about hugs!'
HUG IT OUT, PEEPS.

'It's both of you against the world'!We have stuck by this since we got married. Engagment was sticky with families opinions and things going on but being married, we fight all fights together, especially when I'm called 'The Jew'!

HUG IT OUT, PEEPS.
I totally love this!! And it is true.
DH and I are huggaholics.
As for me, I don't remember anyone specifically telling me anything of enlightenment.
Most of DH's friends telling him 'DON'T GET MARRIED!! '
I am glad he didn't listen to any of those idiots.

At our RH my FIL gave a toast and a tagline just kinda stuck with me..'Bend, don't break...'Growing up my mom has always instilled the perspective that relationships are a team thing....
We laugh A LOT...even after a bicker-fest....we always somehow get to a point where we look at each other and just bust out laughing!
Big into the HUG thing too....
Our weddings bands are engraved with 'ALLWAYS'...a play on words....all ways and always. His idea. Thats our marriage's motto....

Re: ~*~*~NWQOTD 11/30~*~*~
my mom's BFF gave me advice at the family dinner table the night before the wedding'Seventeen times a day'
i was like what?!?
Yes, try do it 17 times a day.
But thats practically impossible.
Yes, but if you AIM to do it 17 times a day and it only ends up being once, you're still ahead of the game!
Needless to say she and her hubby are head over heels in love with each other after 8 years together.
