NWR - Missing Front License Plate (Nassau)

Original post by DeeDee1013

Does anyone know if it is illegal to drive around without a front license plate on your car?

For the past couple of weeks, someone (we have no idea who) is parking their car overnight in front of our house and the car doesn't have a front license plate.

TIA

this thread is making me laugh...growing up we had neighbors who had 'no parking in front of our house rules'...so my friends would intentionally park there everytime they could...the one neighbor actually rang the doorbell of their next door neighbor & said 'We don't want your son's Corvette parked here'...so the neighbor moved the car & proceeded to post a sign on the tree that stated 'Parking for Jones Family only!'...my brother & i watched this happen & were dying laughing!

Out of courtesy everyone tried to park in front of their own house...or at least leave space for another car behind...the best was when the a-hole neighbor (who was a horrible driver) backed into my car while parked in front of my house and asked if the big dent she made was already there...my car was old but in perfect shape...she then proceeded to say it was so old it might not be worth fixing....i think she heard my Dad going off on the front lawn when i told him her comments, since she came over with a check for damages that night.

so yeh..if there is only one NY plate i'd call the cops..tell them its a stolen car with only one plate.. they'll be out pretty quickly..

i know the car might be bothering you or something---but calling in a false report?? thats utterly ridiclious.

i'm sure you think its 'no big deal' cause you needed the eye sore fixed...but i'm sure if you ever need a cop for something like an accident or emergency and they are held up cause of a false report on a silly thing like a car in front of a house....maybe you'll think twice about it when it affects you.

sorry if this is coming off harsh--but my hubby works hard all day long with calls and the last thing he needs is to have to deal with something like that cause someone just wants to have the cops handle something that they could have done themself. (using some due diligence i'm sure you could have found out whos car it was or even left a note asking them nicely to move it)

then people say 'why does it take so long for a cop to come to me when i need them?'

or better yet........sue

I'd be pretty annoyed too if someone was parking in front of my house instead of their house, when there's plenty of room in front of theirs. I'd get creeped out too if a car kept parking in front of my place and I never saw the owner (or knew that it was a neighbor or something)

Sounds like they do need to have a front plate so call the cops and tell them that and see what happens.

I know what you mean with the parking situation. We put a sign up in front of our house. Letting people know parking was for Mets fans only ALL OTHERS WILL BE TOWED. A guy parked there the other day I was ready to call the tow truck but luckily he had on a Mets hat.
