Yes your husband should handle it and find out also why since the wedding they have been giving you the cold shoulder. Looks like something happened since the wedding that started them up.

It's been a while since I've been on the boards, so I have catching up to do!

Wacky - your MIL sounds like she is going through the quintessential 'new MIL withdrawal.' Is she happily married or have someone in her life? If not, watch out, lonely MIL's can be cancers in marriages!

That message was VERY telling as far as her feelings are concerned. I see you've been married only 4months, you probably need to give her some time to get adjusted to the idea of you and her son being married. This is really common and myself as well as many other women have been through this. However, brace yourself, there might come a time when you, DH and MIL has to have a talk! Maybe not right now, but at some point if she continues to give you the cold shoulder. BUT, do be forewarned, that's your hubby's mother so you have to be careful as to what and how you approach the situation to avoid arguments or resentments between you and DH. Did your hubby hear the message??? If so, what did he say about it?

Wacky - Okay, now it makes sense! Since she has no one in her life at this time, she is going to be VERY pre-occupied with you and your hubby! In many ways, she's almost like the jealous girlfriend who is single, only difference is this woman is your dh's mother!

However, it's adviseable to let DH handle this! Like you said, right now just wait things out and see what happens and make sure you let hubby know every situation that arises.

All you have to do is stay pleasant. Smile alot if you have nothing good to say and no matter what, don't let them ever quote you on anything bad! I've SOOOOOOOOO had to learn this in the past almost 4 years! However, in the long run, you will prevail! Patience!

That mesage sounds like she called him for like 4 days in a row and he never returned her calls, is that the case may be? May be she is p iis ed at him?

just another point...my mom LOVES DH so much...but this would be a message she would leave...b/c she really isn't good with answering machines...and she wants to make sure that we know who she is (MIL had a thick Spanish accent...so it can't be her...)

as for the second part...maybe she needed to tell him something...and said for him to call...like maybe your xmas gift?

so maybe its nothing big...but you know her better than us...

No, she hasnt left messages before. THe last time I called her, she made believe she didnt know who I was and when I aske her what was wrong, she was like oh no nothing. I just ahvent heard from youin a while. Then she went on to complain how she hated the flowers for the wedding

is it possible that maybe your voice is on the machine (or just an automated one)
and she was just kind of randomly not addressing anyone...for example...when i leave messages for friends who still live at home...(and don't have cell phones) i'll say this message is for 'laura' ...could it be something like that?
maybe she just got confused for a moment...
i seem to be the only one not ready to attack the poor woman...i see how you could be annoyed...trust me, i have TONS of annoying in law stories...but figured i'd throw in another point of view...

My MONSTER IN LAW is INSANE.. and does things like this all the time..

I call her on it..

I call her and say WHAT THE F%^& is your problem???? then she gets all nice and says oh nothing.. then kisses my ass for a few weeks...

LATINA, WE STAYED 2 YEARS WITH HER AND IT WAS HORRIBLE.

I SLEPT ON THE HARD FLOORS ONE YEAR AND THE SECOND YEAR WE BOUGHT SLEEPING BAGS.

Same thing happened to me a while back too

My FIL calls the house and says to me 'Is my son there?' I turned around to him and said 'My husband is right here'

Some people have some nerve!!
