Ok, so I started my new job....

and I'm absolutely misreable!!

It's not at all what I thought. He told me the hours were 9 to 6..sometimes we'd stay until 630 or 7. from what I can see, they work until 7 or later everynight! You can't leave for lunch..they order together and eat at their desks! He can see every single email I get! I feel like a prisoner.

I love what I do and I was sooo excited. I took the salary even though it was less than I wanted and less than I deserve, but it's not worth it. I cried hysterically last night when I got home and I've been crying tonight too. I can't even talk about it without crying. He told me it was like a 'family' there. I talked to one of the girls there, without letting her know I was unhappy and she said he talks about family, but it's more like he's the overprotective dad that won't let you do anything without him monitoring your every move.

I just don't know what to do..I was out of work for 5 m onths and soooo excited about this and DH & I really need for me to be working, we're starting to really struggle financially.

I'm still looking and still applying, but I don't know how long I can last at this place.

Sorry this is soo long, but I'm just so upset. I don't know what to do. Dh feels soo bad for me and said I don't have to go back, but I don't like to be a quitter.

I'm sorry you feel miserable at your new job! I know it must be hard!! Hang in there and hopefully you will find something just as good in your field with the salary you deserve!

awww i am so sorry. I had the same exact situation happen to me. Well until some thing went missing from my personal bag which really set it off. Then asking me to do something and i said no problem of course bu then i realized he didnt give me all the info i needed just half of it. I went online to see if they had copies of the proposal without asking him and NOPE. I went into his office and said, that he only handed me one proposal and i needed 3 more that i didnt have, and not only that but i had to check which locations were surveyed and on the spreadsheet i was given it didn't say, it was just locations thats it with no other real info. SO i just asked if he can please give me the rest of the papers he had to go with this so i can do it and he just yelled and said 'GET THE F*** out of my office and go ask the service manager about it' even then i kept my cool even though i was just cursed at. But nope she didnt have it either. I then get a memo on my desk that says ' I NEED THIS WORK IN 30 MINS OR GET OUT' again i kept my cool and i did half of the work with the info i did have. THen i went back into his office and said sorry but you need this info in 30 mins and im trying to help you out and give it to you but look at what you gave me, i need the other papers which were on his desk' and again cursed me out and went off saying I DONT CARE GET IT DONE!!!! wouldnt even let me show him that he didnt give me everything bc he swears he did but when i tried to prove him wrong by showing him he yelled more. Oh and that was just part of it lol,there was even more to it lol.

The svc manager said sorry, and wished me good luck and told me if i want to use her as a recommendation that I can, when i went the next day to pick up paycheck

the personal belonging thing is a line not to cross though, i am very weird about that like most ppl and that is just not acceptable.

I said i wont quit no matter what, and i did stick it out and took it all. When i got the memo on my desk i basically said to the manager which was nice about it all, and said 'listen he wants this done in 30 mins or he told me to get out of the office' i showed her how i didnt have everything and he had it but when i asked he flipped out on me' i said there is NO WAY this is getting done when i dont have the info its impossible lol, how am i supposed to add totals for all the jobs if i dont have the amounts so i said guess i'll leave bc thats what he wants.

It all started though a few days before when he came into my office yelling that he wanted all the work for this project in 3 piles, it was in 3 piles lol so i said 'IT IS' then he yelled that why were some stuff in folders. Well he asked for that, he wanted certain things in folders, with an excel sheet for all of them adding up the totals for everything. He said he didnt ask for that, well thank god he wrote it down for me what he wanted and i had the piece of paper and basically said 'HERE you wrote down these folders with the categories that you wanted and its exactly like that' he flipped out that he was proven wrong and said 'well now i want something else' not to mention he was cursing me out this entire convo and going off, so yes maybe i had a bit of an attitude. After that he had a vendetta against me lol

ETA: i dont miss that place at all, i was even getting rashes from how dirty the place was, got a stye which i havent had since i was 5 lol bc of how dirty it was. Coughing all day bc of all the dust. But i do miss having a job period, the routine and of course the money. Its a tough situation i know

I'm sorry...I know how you feel..I've felt that way at jobs before..and its a tough feeling. Keep your head up..I'm sure something better will come along

aw, I'm really sorry to hear that. But I'm glad you've got a great husband who's got your back. That's gotta help, since it's not as though you're alone. But I understand completely how you feel. I once got offered a job and I was convinced that it would be greatest thing ever, but once I started, it was just HORRIBLE! I was told that all jobs are bad in the beginning and to stick it out at least a couple of weeks (which sometimes it's true- things that are different can be scary). But I ended up staying for 3 months and it NEVER got better. Finally i had enough and got outta there. So I know what you're going thru

I hope it works out for you - that either the job get's a lot better, or that you're able to find something better.

I'm soo sorry to hear that you're going through this. I know you want to stick it out....but if you leav you wouldn't be a quitter...I know it's hard in this economy but you still gotta put yourself first.

They didn't even train me. I mean I know how to do the job, because it's what I do. But they basically said- this is your desk, and this is the program we use...never explained it to me..I just figured it out on my own.

Dh works for a plumbing co and they are always looking for help in the office, so he just called his boss and he said for me to call him in the AM, he prob has something for me.

I've never been this miserable before. It's not even that it's new or I don't know anything...it's just like a prison and I'm not ok with it.

I'm so sorry the job isn't what you thought it was going to be. It's nice that your DH is so understanding and supportive. I hope things work out for the best in the longrun.

Im so sorry you arent happy there.. Hang in there, something will come up that has your name on it....

Glad he could make that call for you to his boss. It would probably be nice for you to work someplace better (and closer to the honey) for a while. I hope it works out!!

I hope it gets better, try to stick it out while looking for another job. Right now, you are lucky to have a job and if you can't really afford to be w/o one, so if you can make it work. I think we have all had jobs we hate but this is such a bad economy. What if you can't get another job for months? will you be financially alright? I would not jump without putting serious thought into this. Good luck

its so horrible, remember looking for jobs YOU liked and going to interviews seeing if its something you even want. Now its like ok you'll take any interview you get, and any position offered bc you have no choice. So many ppl are in this situation where you take something just to take it bc you feel you have no choice. I was just reading about this guy who was a big exec for financial company now working at starbucks.

This too shall pass though, and maybe we can go back to be happy with what we do

i know the economy is tight and it is very hard to find a job.. but if you are not happy there, i highly doubt you will be.. after the first day, you could tell how you would like a place and believe me it is not worth your dignity and self respect.. don't get yourself sick over this.. you will find something you like to hold you over until you find something you love...

what a b a s t a r d.. it really pisses me off when people just flaunt their authority at you and curse you.. i would have had tears in my eyes if someone acted that way.. its like a ball in the pit of your stomach.. i hope he gets what is coming to him.. karma is a biotch..

So sorry Dee ... you were so excited this opportunity too I wonder if that's why he wanted to meet you on a Sunday, because he needed someone real bad because people leave because of the way it is??

do you have to stay and eat in the office? I think when its your lunch time you should be able to do what you want.

Have you made any friends or know someone who works there?

I'm sorry you feel this way I'm sure its going to get better
