I definitely miss my old last name but my friends still call me by a nickname (which is part of my old last name) - so I feel like I'll get to hang on to it forever!
I love my new last name - I feel like its the new married me!

Re: Old last name or new last name?
I miss my old last name because it was short and quick to sign but everyone mispronounces it and now I have a very easy last name and most people get it right.

I like my new last name because it's a lot less ethnic than my maiden name.

I like the way my new last name sounds, but it is really annoying having to spell it for everyone.

Re: Old last name or new last name?
I have been having a hard time with my new last name. I hyphenated on the marriage license, but I sort of wish that I had decided to keep my name. I would feel bad telling that to DH now. I have not changed it on any paperwork. In fact, we are buying a house, and there has been some confusion because the contracts were typed up with my maiden name as DH's last name!
I feel like I did so much as Tracy ***** and I didn't get married till I was 32. So now it's weird to refer myself as Tracy *******. Maybe I will just keep my maiden name at work and change everything else.

Re: Old last name or new last name?
Actually a little of both..
I had my maiden name for so long, it was so 'me' .. and I really grew to love it for the fact it was so unique (a very non-typical Italian last name). The only drawbacks were that it was VERY LONG and constantly mispronounced....
I never thought I'd get used to being Felicia 'P'. But when DH and I were engaged, I started practicing and really got used to calling myself that.. and now it just feels 'right' , I'm very used to it!
I actually love the ethnicity of both my maiden (Italian) and married (Greek) names actually.. and even though my married name is 'shorter' its still always mispronounced!
I still hang onto a little bit of Felicia 'A' though... its part of this screennname and ALL my email screennames

I also have a very uncommon Italian maiden name that was ALWAYS mispronounced, but I loved it and I miss it It was very hard to get used to my new name. It felt like I was losing a part of me.
DH's last name combined with my first name sounds so boring and both are only one syllable. The name is also a pretty common southern last name. And would you believe that I actually have to spell it sometimes, even though it's spelled exactly like it sounds?

I liked my old last name better - it was very easy - I did change to the new name - but I'm still not used to it.

Re: Old last name or new last name?
I have to say that I like them both. I was lucky and DH has an Italian last name so I went from Italian to Italian.
I kept my maiden name as my middle name.

Re: Old last name or new last name?
I went from a last name that was three letters long to one that is now 10.And it doesnt help that my first name is 10 letters long too.
So, I WANT MY LAST NAME BACK

I miss my old last name. It was a long Polish name. Now that I have this short french name people still butcher it. But I also like my new last name.
