ONE more time...How long did it take you to do your thank you cards? POLL
I'm starting to catch some flack...But, I have 3x5 cards. I wrote out a personal message and filled up the whole card.
for those who attended my wedding, I also filled up the back of the card with a personal message.
Also, can you give me some info on if your thank you messages were long or brief?
edited to add: mine are all written. I'm just waiting for my address labels to arrive.
But, as soon as I hit the 3 month mark, our close relatives started asking me about the thank you cards...
(for every wedding I've been to, I've waited for approx 6 months for the thank you!)

Mine were pretty much brief. I tried to write something personal in them if I knew the person really well. But a lot of them sorta had the same thing written in them. I did fill up the whole card though. I wrote just a tad bit bigger than normal, but it is not obvious!!

It took me 3 nights. I was trying to finish it in2 nights, but got so tired from all that writing and trying to write different ways of saying thank you. I mailed them all out last week and have heard from many that they received them. Its funny because a lot of people said 'I've never gotten a thank you so soon after a wedding.' I wanted to finsih them before my summer vacation ended. Thank God its done!

Out of curiousity, how many thank you notes are you suppose to send? I've been sending thank you notes for the gifts that we received and I send the note within 5 days of receiving the gift. Once we review our proofs we will be getting thank you cards with our picture on it. Now, do I send those out to all of the guests who attended the wedding as a thank you for attending the wedding? We were thinking we could actually have the thank you cards made into holiday cards instead and send those out.Sorry if this sounds so silly.

we decided to only send thank yous with pictures in them to certain guests....so the thank yous without the picture were all sent out within 3 months.....and we're waiting for the pictures to send out the rest of them

Re: ONE more time...How long did it take you to do your thank you cards? POLL
We sent ours out 5 weeks after the wedding. Our proofs were ready shortly after the HM so we picked a picture right away and the photographer had them ready in a week.
We spent one Saturday or Sunday writing them all out. I read here a million times how long and annoying it is to do them so we decided to do them all at once so we could put the task behind us. It was also easier for us to write the messages since everything was very fresh in our minds.

I have yet to pick out a picture yet, even though I've had my proofs for over a week nowHonestly I'm not in any rush to begin this task (then again, I am the biggest procrastinator there is!!) but I suppose I should soon!!

Ours were out right about our 3 month mark. Everyone's was done by Thanksgiving. It took us a few weeks to actually write them all out though. The messages were brief (and mostly the same!) unless they were close family and friends who took part in the wedding.

Re: ONE more time...How long did it take you to do your thank you cards? POLL
I'm not big on writing out long thank yous. Takes too long, my fingers cramp up and I wnat to get them over and done with. I thanked them in person as well.I hate writing long drawn out thank yous. Plus I lost the list of who gave me what
. I remember most of it but still...some got a 'thanks for your generous gift'.
It's coming on 4 months now and I am 1/3 done.
And anyone that mentions how they didn't get a thank you......are rude. Ettiqutte states you have 1 year to do them.

Re: ONE more time...How long did it take you to do your thank you cards? POLL
i sent out thank you's within a month to my side of the family (my mom didn't want anyone to get the picture thank you cards). my MIL wanted all of her guests to get a picture, so those took me longer -- about 4 1/2 months to complete sending all my thank you's.after about a month, a lot of guests started calling my mom saying i hadn't thanked them yet. i couldn't believe it.
i kept my notes short and sweet.

Why didn't she want them to have pics?

No, ettiquette states that guests have a year to give a wedding gift but that thank yous should be sent as soon as possible or at least with in three months.
We (as in people in this area) are used to waiting longer because of the picture inserts.

Oops, your right. Getting my etiquette stuff confused!
But they're still going to have to wait.
And the people in Ireland (at least where DH is from) will get a treat because a few of them said they don't even send thank you's!
