POLL: How Much Are You Spending on DH this Holiday Season??

For many of us, this will be the first Christmas or Holiday Season as married women.

How much do you think you'll spend on your DH this year??

Re: POLL: How Much Are You Spending on DH this Holiday Season??

Last year we went completely overboard and spend tons of money on each other since it was our first married Christmas.

This year I'm hoping to keep it down to somewhere around $500.

Re: POLL: How Much Are You Spending on DH this Holiday Season??

We have always treated ourselves very nicely for things like birthdays and holidays. Last year we went nuts, and I'd say we each spent more than $600. This year, with baby on the way and some house work to finish, plus the nursery, I think we'll be going a little less crazy. I'd say about $200 (one really nice present).

We to went overboard last year also and decide this year we would spend about $200 and buy the kids more gifts instead.

Re: POLL: How Much Are You Spending on DH this Holiday Season??

Ive never added it up but we probably spend about $800 on each other each Christmas if you were to add the big gifts to the stocking stuffers to the other stuff.

Re: POLL: How Much Are You Spending on DH this Holiday Season??

We have been conservative for the last 4 Christmases...between the wedding, the baby, the big move, the house....so, this year I'm going to take a back seat and let DH buy himself the digital camera he really wants.

It helps that I got diamond earring jackets for my birthday in Sept, tho

We tend to go overboard but this year we are trying to scale it back a bit and keep it in the $500 range.

Re: POLL: How Much Are You Spending on DH this Holiday Season??

I think with the baby coming in Feb, this Xmas we'll be more budget-minded. DH went all out for my anniversary gift so I told him we should just buy 'token' gifts for Xmas and spend the $$ on the baby!!

Re: POLL: How Much Are You Spending on DH this Holiday Season??

I am going to buy him this new palm thinggy and a black suit so I better start saving my pennies He is worth it. He did not want anything for our 1 yr anniv so I am making up big time. it should be over $600 it Palm thinggy is about $300 but he has a $150 GC from J&R so he said I can use it towards his gift how generous. I am scouting out men's store for good sales, he needs a new black suit.

Enzo and I can't afford anything for each other this holiday. We will probably get something together for both of us, if we can.

Re: POLL: How Much Are You Spending on DH this Holiday Season??

Latina - I am with you....Larry and I will treat 'each other' to something we can both enjoy....
As much as I would love to go all out (like we normally do)....with the wedding having just passed, and saving for a house...it's just not realistic for us right now.

Re: POLL: How Much Are You Spending on DH this Holiday Season??

I already started my shopping, and I think so far I've spent something like $260.00. That's before I buy the Playstation, which will be almost another 200, and he still didn't give me his wish list yet!!! Yeeks!

But he got jipped this year on his birthday. It was four days after the wedding and we were just flat broke. So I only got him a DVD..
So I'll try to make it up this Christmas.

I have a funny feeling I'm going to be in the 800-1000 range.

We talked about $200 each this year because our 1st anniversary is 4 days later and I told him he can put his pennies towards a nice piece of jewlery!

Re: POLL: How Much Are You Spending on DH this Holiday Season??

I figured I would spend about $200. Last year I bought him a nice digital camera and spent a lot of money. He only wants one thing which is about $50, but I found a couple of other things he would like as well.

Re: POLL: How Much Are You Spending on DH this Holiday Season??

Last Christmas we were complately broke and strapped for cash at Christmas time.

Now we both have new jobs and things are finally looking up. But I will always remember last Christmas, how DH went out of his way and worked overtime to give me a wonderful Christmas. This Christmas, being more financially secure, he is finally getting the big screen TV HE wants. It is going to be a huge surprise- I can hardly wait to see his face.

Re: POLL: How Much Are You Spending on DH this Holiday Season??

I got a few things in mind. We were conservative for the last two years, so this year, I think we need to indulge a bit. Not crazy, since we still have house expenses and we just got back from Hawaii, but I think we'll be in the $300 - $400 range!

We really go overboard every year, but this year we MUST keep it simple b/c we're broke
So definitely a nice night out to dinner, and small gifts probably

Re: POLL: How Much Are You Spending on DH this Holiday Season??

OK, I'll be the oddball out.

When we were dating there was no limit on what we spent for Christmas.

Maybe Im an 'old foagie' now that Im a mommy, an aunt, etc, but I/we really dont see it as spending so much on eachother anymore.
Especially since children have been part of the immediate family (niece was born 4yrs ago).
To me, Christmas is 'more for the kids'.
The spirit of Christmas, the christmas gifts under the tree, the magic of Santa...

Spending or having $200 or $2000 spent on me really doesnt phase me at all one way or the other... IT wont make me feel more or less 'valued'.

We're doing Kris Kringle among the sibs/spouses, and probably a few gifts here and there between us, depending on what we want... The last thing I think about is what I want for Christmas... I cant wait to see JA play with all his toys on Christmas morning!

Am I the 'adult grinch'?
