Post wedding day Depression???

I know this sounds ridiculous..after we were married i was soooo Happy high on life for months..now I last week I felt depressed and down, like upset that the wedding is over. It's not my husband he's amazing we've been together for four years and I love him dearly!!! and he has been wonderful over the last week. It's weird somehow I feel like something is over..yet I know we have so much to look forward to.
I've talked to a few friends and they said they experienced similar things and feelings...almost like what now that the wedding is over?
Is there such a thing as Post wedding day Depression like after you have a baby????

Re: Post wedding day Depression???

I think most of us have had it.

But think, you still have to do the album, you can see the video etc.
I can't wait for my video to relive the day all over again!

Re: Post wedding day Depression???

Many here have said they have. It is normal, it will pass. Look at your proofs, watch your video. Have a GTG at your house and pick out proofs for your album. Find a hobby to fill up your time. It will be ok.

Re: Post wedding day Depression???

Normal, normal, normal! Don't get down about it. Keep looking at your pictures, have your friends and family over for gatherings and keep busy. Don't allow your mind to ponder on it too much because you could get really depressed.

Start decorating your home or doing something you really like.

Remember, the marriage is what's important, not the wedding!

Post wedding day Depression

Definitely! It was the most happiest day of my life, happy and relaxing HM and it was very hard to get back to work. I was so depressed after returning from our HM. It took me about 5 months to re-gain my efficient self from suffering Post-Wedding Depression. For this 5 months I just stare into space and constantly look at our wedding pictures over and over mentality re-living that perfect day again. I've devoted all my time, finances, energy and effort into our wedding plans for 18 months (1 1/2 years) and was very, very sad that it was all over.

I'm feeling better now and enjoying our married life without all the hectic wedding plans. However, there's the future to look forward to such as married life and spending your whole life together complete with your dear husband, personal goals, hobbies, decorating your home together, etc.

Re: Post wedding day Depression

I think it's normal to feel that way. The wedding planning takes up so much time and I wondered what am I going to do now?

Sort of the opposite of when we got engaged - we wondered where all the time we would need to plan would come from.

After a while you find other things to fill your time - working on your album, thank you cards, the holidays are around the corner, etc.

Re: Post wedding day Depression

you know...we postponed our HM until a month after our wedding...so I think that really helped...looking forward to it...

then when we got back DH was laid off...so that was something else to stress about...lol

maybe a weekend trip to look forward to would be nice?

The book talks about Post-Wedding Depression in deepth. 'The Conscious Bride: Women Unveil Their True Feelings About Getting Hitched' by Sheryl Nissinen

It helped me a lot.
