Re: Post Wedding Depression

My first wedding I was devastated when it was over. It was part of the reason things went bad. I was so distraught after we came back from our HM & things settled down. I had missed the attention; the planning and just feeling special.

However, this time around after we came back from our HM it was so nice to sit back and not have to stress about running place to place and dishing out all kinds of $ and we were able to focus more on e/o and 'reality.'

You'll always have your wedding day to look back on and relive through your video and pictures, but all in all, its one special day; you now have your entire life ahead of you together.

You'll be getting your proofs back shortly.........

Hang in there, w/ time you'll feel better. Just don't focus entirely on your wedding....

I'm sad that it is over just because it was such a great day. When I watch my video I just want to go back to that day when we are all dancing and having a good time and stay in those moments forever. But I'm also glad it's over because of the the stress and planning that is involved. I'm definitley over all that and even was before the wedding. Now I just look foward to the summer and house hunting in the fall!

There are still great memories to look foward to with your husband!

YEs yes yes... my first morning back to reality, I got back from the gym and started bawling my eyes out to DH About how sad I was... lovely.

I can tell you that time DOES make it better. It definitely, definitely does!

I also felt that way for quite a few months, it's hard accepting that all of the anticipation and excitement is over and it's time to return to the 'real' world. But there are still plenty of wedding things to do; write out TYs, change your name, have dress preserved, choose pics for your album and enlargements and watch video. That can be exciting and helps you to fondly look back at the memories you have from your special day. I really started to feel better tho when we moved onto bigger things, namely when we bought our house. Just turn your attention to other things and focus on your marriage and you'll 'forget' about being upset that your wedding is over.

We just celebrated our 1 year anniversary and it was so nice bc I wasn't stressed out like I was last year, I was able to just relax and enjoy being with DH!!

I am actually RELIEVED!!! I didn't have time to be upset.. we left for the HM the next day after the wedding and as soon as I got back, I started a new job and back into the swing of things..

I would love to go back to my reception and take a little more of it in and dance a little more!!!!

I wasn't so much depressed, but I definitely missed the planning and being busy all the time.

I'm feeling the exact same way. I've been so depressed since the wedding. I was even depressed on the wedding night when they called the last dance -- i just couldnt believe it was over.

What scares me the most is that other past brides I talk to say that they never experienced the depression after their weddings

Re: Post Wedding Depression

I've felt this way a little, I want to re-live our day and the excitement of everything. Okay, I also want to get dressed up, have my hair and makeup done, and have everyone tell me how pretty I look! But whenever I get sad about the wedding being over, I try to look on the bright side - I'm married and will spend the rest of my life with the most amazing man! I try to keep in mind that the wedding is one day, the marriage will be forever.

But I would like to be a again!

That must be so hard on you. This may sound funny but- enjoy it. Pretend like your dating again. Remember how you used to get butterflies waiting for his call? Going to the store and seeing a card or something that reminds you of him and sending it to him. I know it sounds silly bc you're not in high school anymore but it's better than being sad and you will see him in a couple of weeks!!

Hang in there!

Definitely had it ! It is hard not being a bride anymore but being a newlywed is fun too===must be hard that you are not together though!

Re: Post Wedding Depression

Another date twin! I just wrote a similar post to AeroJenn on the other forum.

I'm a little sad that it's over because it was so wonderful and it went so fast. It was only one day. I understand why people make it a whole wedding weekend.

Still, I'm VERY glad that the planning is over. I was getting very, very stressed by the end. And it's amazing how so many of those little things that seemed so important before the wedding are nothing now. I'm very glad that we did this in only six months.

And, I tried very hard not to become one of those brides that think she turned into a princess the day she got engaged. So it's not like now I feel like I'm back to regular life after living as a princess. It was nice to be the center of attention for a while, I'm not used to it, but it's nice to just be me again too, not The Bride.

Also, I'm SO happy to be married. I wasn't sure how different being married was going to be, as we had already been living together for more than a year, but somehow it is different. The sex is better, somehow. And we're just closer. I adore my husband so much, and I would never trade having the wedding day again if it meant he went back to being just my fiance, even for a minute.

Don't worry, the depression will pass as you get involved in your new married life.

Re: Post Wedding Depression

Didn't see this until after I posted. That must be so hard! The plus of being a newlywed is getting to be with your new husband, and you're not. No wonder you're depressed. Keep in constant contact with him--isn't it great we live in the Internet age? You can send him messages all day long, and even sign up for Internet calling. Don't worry, your move will come very soon and then you'll be together. And I'm sure you're going to be so busy packing soon you won't have time to be depressed.

No. Everyone said that it would happen but honestly I'm so happy it's all over. Planning and all that was more stressful that fun! I can understand being sad to be away from your DH but July is almost here and you have so much to look forward to!

I know what you mean. I was a little afterward but I think it was more because it went by so super fast
I'm kind of happy that the planning and everyone asking how the planning was going and our mothers on our back about everything is over with though.

Re: Post Wedding Depression

The day after the wedding I was like...'UM...shouldn't I be doing something. ' I honestly sat home and cried..lol. And then I went shopping and bought a bunch of stuff I didn't need...but it made me feel better. Good thing my friend made me a little DVD of the wedding so I could watch it. Then me and my husband waited one week before we left for our HM...so I had something to look forward to. Now that I'm back I'm enjoying looking at pics and talking about the wedding. But I'm not depressed at all.
