Re: puppy question

I would bring a sample to the vet. How long have you had the puppy?

It could be giardia. Its a parasite that many many puppies come with, even puppies from breeders because its very hard to prevent in a home with many dogs. It comes from drinking stale water (puddles or even bowls of water that have sat to long) and can be spread through sniffing butts or poop.

My vet said about 30% of puppies they see have it.

Even if you did an initial stool sample and it was clear, has the puppy been drinking stale water or sniffing other dogs butts?

Its hard to cure because it requires constant attention and clean up, but it could really do damage if you don't cure it.

It could also be something the puppy ate, but if it keeps happening take a sample to the vet

Re: puppy question

when that happens with my dogs i give them white rice and boiled chicken as their meal.. it helps bind them.. thats what the vet always told me to do when they had diarrhea

as long as he is not throwing up a lot you should be fine.. bc if he was then i would be worried about dehydration

i agree...my vet said the same thing about the chicken.

i would try that and see what happens. if the diarhea goes on for several days then i would take him to the vet.

hope he feels better!

I would end up calling the vet, then most likely bringing a stool sample. Im a hypochondriac so any little thing I like to be on the safe side.
